I am a little bewildered by the selection, they could of secured Craig Dawes signature at any stage . Spending time to find the best possible candidate i can understand, but to go through the whole process of sorting through endless resume's ( as stated by stirlo ) and interviews and only coming up with Craig Dawe as the man to get there hands on the holy grail seems a little backward.

My opinion is Gawler Centrals can only go in one direction from here and thats down .

Gawler South on the other hand are shaping up as a real contender for 2009 and will be the power club of the Gawler teams.

I heard that GC panel had an independent person on it can anyone confirm. If so you would think that they have acted professionally having someone from outside the club giving input

Craig will have the club whistling his tune before you know it, he is the best man for the job.

Surely Hafey, south gawler..... can you give us some insight into this ridiculous statement?

Being a cross town rival of your beloved Tigers i guess you would consider my prediction " ridiculous"

I stand by my prediction with news of Danny Lee and one other GAZA player being on the cusp of signing with the Lions. Willy Searle is also on the shopping list and also in talks as is former mail medalist and favorite son Ben Haliday. Damien Ellis is another i have heard will be returning to the club .

Add those inclusions into any BL&G side and you will improve. I guess the proof will be in the pudding.

Spot on Boozehound, he has called it quits on a fantastic career.

Apparently South Gawler has signed Kris Vanderloo from West Adelaide/ Sturt as well... good mates with Bayliss apparently... and to top it off big D Coombs has been heard to say he is prepared to attend on pre season training... therefore he wants the captaincy...

Would be good to see the Lions give the captaincy to a young local who is there for all the right reasons. Just who i dont know, but there must be someone who has been around for the last few years worthy of the capataincy.

Any suggestions ?

I think Ronnie Lee did a decent job last year, it would have been a tad awkward taking over from Andrew Bevis, given the years of service he had provided to the club and to be told he was no longer suitable... I dare say Ronnie will have another opportunity this year??

Souths leadership qualities don't run very deep. Ron being a former Willaston player certainly adds a little hardness to their group.

It was interesting reading Craig Dawe's expose' in the Bunyip this week, he stated that the basis of his style of play was to be accountable, didn't we get rid of brant because he too defensive???
I think the committee might have to bring in a media officer, Big Shrek! that type of work sounds right down your ally.

Yes Shreky, you are good on the detail but poor on the big picture stuff.

Not too many players too follow him, from most accounts it was the players that wanted his bags packed. Hummocks are always around the mark so its not like he is inheriting a rabble I would expect he will continue that trend. He will definitely want to get a couple of recruits even if it was just for the company on the trip to training and games each week.
