No Marsland No Lions.
Sollies prevailed in the wet last night at memorial.

I see Marsland was first best in the B grade game! Dropped for form or are Lions just stacking their B grade a little earlier than usual this year? (Note that Lavis and Bradley have also appeared there in the past couple of weeks)

After one full round the benchmark this year is clearly South. Yet to suffer a defeat in any grade and according to reports still a couple to come back in too. Barring disaster or complacency it's hard to see anyone other than maybe a full strength Ports or Sollies getting close in the 1's.

Went and watched to game between South’s and Centrals on Saturday, great crowd and the football was better than i anticipated. It appears Centrals are are on the improve and are out of first gear. From what i saw they matched South's for 90% of the game. Is this going to be 2010 all over again??
P.S. Great to see Richmond knock off the Hawks

Just seeing what other people think about coaches and how good they actually are in country footy, or is it more luck in recruiting, ex players coming back for a coach etc.
Boston clearly needed good players to get a result, with Ports getting him the right recruits ($$) mixed with a good blend of locals, he then went to Southern Flinders and did zilch, at Sollies he didnt even make the finals in three years! but it's never HIS fault.
Hayes is the same, at Westies in 2005 he had the best player in the league rock up into town as a TV reporter ($$), and at Centrals recruited heavily ($$), even if some did just happen to arrive in town as part of the transient community, now back at Westies and struggling big time, with no real 'name' players or big recruits.
Now we have Boof Rivers at South who have recruited wisely getting all their ex-pats back, thus attracting very few points while doing so, and could go through the season undefeated, after not winning a premiership for six years.
Sollies have been cellar dwellars for years, their coach Davies who did nothing at Lions now has Sollies sitting 2nd after recruiting very heavily ($$).
And Lions, oh that's right they havent won a premiership yet, and are not about to in the near future as they recruit poorly and their locals are not committed.
So what I am trying to say is you obviously need that good blend of locals, but they will rarely win you a premiership on their own, you need that influx of 'quality' recruits to hang the shield on the wall of your club. 8)

I refer you to the 2006 premiers, who had 21 out of 22 players come up through the junior ranks. Admittedly, this is the exception not the norm.

I've been away with work and it seems awfully quiet in here he is something to kick start a chat.

There doesn't see to be many West or Central Augusta inputs atm is that because last yrs Westy bloggers are all playing for BMW and are all the Central supporters hoping for a win soon to come out of the woodwork??
IMO it is a three team comp according to the ladder and %'s.
Does that reflect on $$$ spent by all three? Has Hayesy finally got his recruiting wrong or dont West put the $$$ out like Centrals did for him?

Unforntunately South Augusta captain Adam Grantham requires another knee recon ending his season...His guts and grunt will be sadly missed in Souths midfield..The remaining BLUE CHIP midfielders from Souths including Horner,Struck,Dohnt,Margitich,Cox and Co will have to lift there game to another level to replace the efforts of there inspirational captain.
On a happy note congratulations to "THE ROCK" Christian Reid who this week plays game 199 (A Grade ) in a row..What an achievement!!!!

Congratulations Reidy - a truly versatile player who is just as capable mopping up across half back as he is having a snap at goal. Very skilful at reading the ball in flight. :D

Sounds like your getting ahead of yourself like us mate. Nobody ever won a flag in June. Credit where credit's due though - play like that in September and you'll give yourself a good chance.

yer ease up Squids, whether that was meant to inflame the masses or not, we are in JUNE! long way to go, Ports don't appear to have to many injuries, like Sollies, so at this stage both looking good, a few injuries can bring everyone back to the field, but there does seem a definite gap between top three and bottom three. 8)

Nice to see you South fans fire up.

On another issue, whats going on at the Lions, they seem to have a few players in the Bgrade that should be in the Agrade. Why aren't these players in the A's?
