Strath coach peter simmonds informed the playing group last week he isn't continuing next year due to family commitments. He has been a great coach for the last 5 years and will be missed. Haven't heard any other goss, that now makes 2 gsfl clubs now looking for a new coach. Would think most other clubs would have no changes, with quiet a few new coaches this year appointed mt comp, victor, bays & mclaren. Not sure if clay is going on at myonga?
Pilmore definately safe at willunga, creek who knows. They could go back to back like (01 & 02) and give the coach the flick as they did with shayne mitchell.

Heard from a goolwa player there it was a lot more than 'player v player... Sounds like zac and his old man lost it completely! Not sure how the club could keep him on after what happened with the knight boys....under no circumstances should a coach be getting in 1 punch on let alone 2 or more. I think goolwa need an experienced coach as there is definately some handy players at the club just needing some more teaching and development!

goolwa definitly have some good players, maybe need to have a look at their recruits and whether they are the right fit for the club, and an expierienced coach is definitly the way to go.

This is really disappointing for the club; they seem to have turned one corner in the last 3-5 seasons only to have another to get around. Alot of potential to do great things which might simply have passed them by with Yanks new found dominance in the past few seasons.

SO any interest in round 18?

The top 5 is set (unless perhaps Goolwa are set free under a new Coach and shock Willunga!).

Can Bays find some form and show they are a finals threat against Yank?

McLaren have only beaten Goolwa (4pts) and Pongy (5pts) in the last 10 games!!! Another defeat to Strath and it would be an unbelievably bad run into the finals.

Battle for the also rans for 6th spot for Victor and Compass.

Blow the siren and start the finals..

No - just the old adage that from the AFL that sides win the week after the coach is sacked more often than not!

Panther32 wrote:Are McLaren playing finals with that record over the past 10 games???

Yep - won 6 of the first 7 games of the year and struggled since, but the sides just below haven't been able to win consistently so as to move past them either.

Goolwa needs to have a good look at themselves from the inside out over the last 3to4 yrs ZAK has stuck with the club with not much success .Winning 3 BNFs and may win again coaching the club to 4wins and being competitve in a number of others. his on field far outways his off field mistakes . maybe the president should be sacked aswell

wasn't sacked for anything he was doing on the field he is a great player but you can't keep getting in punch ons with players the club had no other choice.
