Pumba, SJ was a bit of a breath of fresh air to the club - but that lasted about 12 months.
His true colours started showing through which was that he was a good motivator but not up there with his coaching ability or one-on-one communication.

We had a very good list back then and nearly any coach could've got us to those GF's. A better coach may have even won us a premiership.

And as they always say - there's no prize for second place.

If we'd kept him any longer than he did we would've lost many more players than what we did.

The only players that he bought (from memory) were Danielle and Bugg.

The year after he left, we had to rebuild of sorts and a lot of the other teams recruited VERY well (which we didn't) and they passed us (finished 5th).

The next year we went up to Div 1 and the club has got a lot stronger (not shown by results but shows the difference in the two div's) and the team we have now would beat the team we had back then. It just shows how much Div 2 has improved in the last 3-5 years.

Hi All,

I have missed a fair portion of the season this year due to work commitments. I saw Kirk Heberle from Gawler Central came 3rd in the association Fairest and Best, can anyone fill me in on this player and the year that he had?

Cheers

Tips:

A's Tan
B's Tan
U17 GC
U15 South

Should be an interesting day on the Willaston oval, as some have mentioned great playing surface but s""thouse atmosphere. Seelander 100% to Willaston, hear that Ango have had several applicants including Stafford demanding $20K, hope they get a good coach who can bring in some quality imports to bolster the young men there. Sounds as though Freeling are struggling to find anyone. The rumour at South is that the players want McGree who plays in their reserves to coach. Good luck to all sides on Sat.

so SJ got your club into 3 GFs against a side that did not move up [which i'm told they could have, not really sure on that so don't shoot me down if not fact ] your club has not got into GF since, why not point finger at coach[s] since then, or are players not motivated enough? despite going up a grade and by your own estimate you are a better side , why the lack of finals appearances [ coach or players ?] PS SJ ,as far as i know did not coach at Hope V, prob meant TTG [u17s i think ]

OM, I'm with you on this, strange TG bags the coach who took his club to 3 consecutive grand finals (better performance than 9 other clubs). Sounds like SJ may have put TG in his place and he is still holding grudges - get over over it and move forward, I'm sure SJ has.

PS, SJ coached HV in '02 in 6th position, went to Birdwood in 03-05.

Just a question.... Which GF in the last three years has cost the most to get the teams there...

2006: Freeling vs Barossa
2007: Barossa vs Freeling
2008: Tanunda vs Barossa

My guess is Barossa have had the same $ spend approx over the years, so just guessing who spent the most from the other clubs...

The talk is Freeling were going through $100k + change per year...
But I have a sneaking suspicion that with all the chip ins from sponsors etc, Tanunda have surpassed that mark...

EVERYONES THOUGHTS???

$100K  i saw Freeling play a game this year and if that side cost that much some one is not doing their job properly, either the players or the people who pay them .

Geez, Hafey. You haven't heard that, you pulled those names out of your bum. A few older blokes in that list too. Are they all you can remember before the dementia kicked in?

How many of those blokes do you reckon like Seelander?
