Bit rough judging a bloke on one game

I watched the Mundulla vs Border Districts game and was chatting with a few Borders supporters during the game. I asked them about the full forward now at Goolwa. Certainly didn't talk in depth but got some mixed reviews regarding commitment, weight etc. None of them questioned his ability though.

I played a bit with Eric Martin. Don't think he had a real clean slate. Tursday was a non attendance night, Thursday night training consisted of 2 laps it track suit pants and a hoody, Saturday was 7 goals and 2 reports or 0 goals and a send off then Saturday night we'd settle in at the crown and watch him do his best work. Not ideal but you'd rather have him on your side than against you. Full forwards are weird units

He certainly was a weird unit on the field. Top bloke off it but he'd just go crazy with white line fever.

Mclaren was lucky to leave it so late. They did have more scoring shots through put the game and were always in it. Goolwa helped a bit by flooding so heavily that the ball was always going straight back into mclarens forward line. After long enough either s free kick or a loose ball means a shot at goal. Stella effort by damo to kick from fifty on the run with a wet ball to seal the game

Was on target for 8 + that day. We had a chance to grab him after round 4 and at that stage we were using stuff all points do we grabbed him. I reckon he'll be pretty valuable. When we work out the combo of harves and smith it's pretty a dangerous forward line

Hey 'lf' does smith train? When we played you guys he didn't even run out on to the field for a warm up. Heard he doesn't have a job so he would have to be on a fair bit of coin, would be a big grocery bill to keep his fridge full i would think :)

Creek$ v Strath game was a bit of a slog the ground was the muddiest the locals had seen it but still in alright condition for footy. Strath kicked the first 2 goals then never headed the creek after that. Strath put up a good fight all day though, getting a lot more inside 50's but just lacking a bit of polish near goals in the wet. The creek have so many little fast front runners up forward, who can get found out if things don't go there way. Still my tip for the flag regardless.
Heard that a gws recruiter came to the game to see tom derham play on sat. Unfortunately for him he had a very quiet game, coming off late in the game to rest up for the state champs i'm guessing. What is happening with his cricket has he got a gig with the redbacks 'jackpot'?

Id say No, good luck if hes getting looked at by GWS, great young broken hill fella, not scared of a bit of hard work. Will no doubt take football over cricket at this stage of time.

Smith did the whole warm up and was on the ground at 3 quarter time with the boys. Does train as much as he can but is tied up with basketball coaching on a lot of Thursday's. He also has a job. If you are on Seacliff swing by the pub and he will pour you a beer

Dont know what he's up to with his cricket.
I was under the impression that his cricket was his priority ?
I thought the reason that he didn't stay at Port Adelaide after playing in their u/18 premiership side last year was that he'd be unable to make a full commitment to his footy for the entire season bcos of his cricket commitments?
Well thats what i heard 3 months ago so his situation may well be completely different now. :?

I only saw him earlier this year for Border Districts. Have been told he was a gun last year and the year before but this season kicked 5 goals in 5 games (four of them in the one game) and then was told to shove off - poor attitude, fitness and discipline cost him.

He gets called Hippo around here still.

Yep and good on him - I'd kill to be on the sort of money he gets. Unfortunately I just play for the love of the game and the loyalty of belonging to a footy club.

Apart from a few soft patches in and around the cricket pitch, it's actually in pretty good condition.. much better than last Saturday.
