I see Feast didn't make the APFL squad. Maybe I am a bad judge of footballers

Both big omissions. Only reason I can think of is Zac has been selected a couple of times before and hasnt put his hand up to play so they may not pick him due to him not being available. Theres no doubt hes in the leagues best 21 so its probably attributed to that.

Squad of 48 picked there, looks to have some very handy players in it. If most if not all of them were able to play it we'll roll out a good unit on the June Long Weekend!

surely neely hasnt earned a gig. played 2 games. 0 goals, 0 best (0 kicks against goolwa). i reckon you missed a goolwa bloke lf. the new ruckman has yet to be beaten. hes the most athletic ruckman in the comp. loots an laffin also stiff from a side that is 4-1

Maybe just wanted the weekend off to rest the body. Surely wouldn't have been overlooked on form.

That would probably be right. The guys in our team that should be in there, may not have been available anyway but it would have been worth checking before presuming.

So is that the way it works now?- if you would prefer a week off you just make yourself unavailable?

(which I actually agree with rather than forcing guys to play if they don't want to)

A lot of players do that. I reckon plenty would have legitimate excuses though. Planning trips and holidays on the long weekend takes priority for some and are planned before the squad is announced.

Having said all of that, its still a cracking list to choose from!!!

Would be great if there were phone calls made and there were genuinely 30-35 guys that you could guarantee were available! Might have a go at picking the best available side from that list and post it tonight/tomorrow.

Peoples thoughts on this weekends matches?

McLaren over Pongy
Willunga cricket score over Strath
Yank to get the chocolates at home against Creeks
Bays to strong at home under lights for Compass
Goolwa and Victor is too hard to pick - Victor were the walking wounded after last week and Goolwa's big pickup could give them the edge?

I reckon a Two Wells official is on the selection committee, and may have recommended Feast not be selected in the squad for that reason.
But make no mistake, in the top two ruckmen in the league and everyone acknowledges that. If we wanted to play, walk up start.

Good to see Big Paul Smith playing a Goolwa Pt Elliot. Be a big inclusion and hopefully makes an immediate impact.
I remember watching him play for Flinders Pk against Easton Pk @ Richmond Oval in a GF and he kicked 7 from memory. Has got size, strength about him.

$50 a goal plus match payments. Proven goal kicker though.
