Yeah Jimmy i think that you are right.A great contest by both sides but im sure that the Langhorn Creek coach could find other reasons that they lost not just blaming the umpire.I think most Langhorns people would admit it was a great game of footy to watch and im happy to say that im glad we got the points as beating the current Premier is a great result for us.GO EAGLES

Neither team really deserved to lose, McLared bcos they led virtually the entire match and Creeks for sheer persistence to grind Mclaren down after never looking like winning until the last minute. Yeah the Creek coach would be dissappointed that they couldn't defend their lead for the last 20 seconds of the match. (tho some will argue they did).
Gonna require a huge effort by the Creeks to defend the Flag from here, a top 3 spot being essential meaning they can afford to lose only 1 or 2 more matches for the season.
Certainly shaping up to be one of the most interesting seasons for many, many years.

Would've thought it'd be that hard to make the 5 from here for Strath.

The BOTTOM 5 that is. ;)

It's not all doom and gloom for Strathalbyn.

The town may have lost Clipsal and cant win a game of footy BUT

At least the TROTS are back in town after a few years absence. Good crowd there today and the club will be hoping for a bumper crowd to their Cup meeting on the Monday of the June long weekend.

great win by Compass - well done to the team
looks like to be a very interesting year with Strath and Myponga heading towards the wrong end of the prem table
Creeks probably going to struggle and make the top 3 let alone the five and bays looking good for the finals for the first time in a few years
willunga again still the measuring stick

i apologise for putting the Hills scores on this forum on Saturday - mobile phones get tougher to use the older you get.. cheers

A fantastic season unfolding this year with many sides being a genuine contender!

Looking forward to facing another tough test this week in Encounter Bay. See the new look side that Billy Neely has rolled out who have rolled 2 of last years finalists already in Victor and the Creeks.

Loccy Mcgregor has bolted out of the blocks kicking goals and running amok, would have to be an early Mail Medal tip!

Willunga obvious faves atm but with the Demons getting the Grand Final yips in recent years, the Flag race is as wide open as its been for many a year.

Wouldn't write the Creeks off just yet, think they're a very angry lot after last weeks episode and will be looking to make a big statement in coming weeks.

Certainly not writing Creeks off JJ - like I said...long way to go.

But it is great to have a new flavour to the league: after round 4 last year Strath, Creek and Willunga were already sitting atop the ladder with 3 wins each, whereas this year we have Willunga 4, Yank, Bays and McLaren with 3 and Strath and Creek languishing with 1 win between them. NO-ONE would have seen that coming!

Creek will make their way up the ladder as the season progresses but it is hard to see Strath doing the same. In theory, Willunga, Yank, Bays and Creek should take finals spots from here - the big improver McLaren will be the interesting one after unexpected wins over Bays and Creeks that really gives them a huge advantage over the other mid table sides in the race for the finals.

McLaren's side doesn't look that different from last year really - seem to be without Vonow, Gill, Greenbank and Littlefield and gained Ellis, Towers, McEvoy and Caesarowicz (all from Mitcham) and another Fenoughty. They have had a good start stability wise with very few player changes over the 4 rounds which always helps. Looking forward to Victor v McLaren this week.

Heads up to the McLaren boys (and anyone else interested) - Australian Cricket Legend David Boon is speaking at the VHFC after the game - only $5 surcharge.

early prediction for ladder after rd 18

Willunga
Langhorne Creek
Yankallila
Encounter Bay
Victor Harbor
McLaren Vale
Mount Compass
Goolwa
Strathalbyn
Myponga

Maybe a little too early for a few of these but essentially Willunga top, then a battle between 2-6,7-8, and 9-10

I think experience will be the difference come finals time, so far alot of close games that could have gone either way.

Pretty close to what I think Old Mate

Willunga - 17 wins. Creek seem to have the wood on them at LC but would be favourites in all other games.
Bays - 13-15 wins. Big test to show where they are against the demons on sat.
Creek - 13-14 wins. Already dropped 3 but their list is still far better than that - the wheels will start turning now
Yank - 12-14wins. Have dropped off a little from last year but so has the comp as a whole. Hard to know who will suddenly appear in their team from week to week.
McLaren - 9-11 wins. Great form early but can they sustain it? The wins over Bays and Creek in the bank will be a key.
Victor - 9-11 wins. This week against McLaren could be season defining.
Goolwa - 6-8 wins. Not sure if they have improved over 2011 or not but already have more wins and will be competitive with all the mid-range sides again.
Compass - 4 Wins - hard to see them beating anyone but those below them.
Strath and Pongy - a win a piece? That might be a bit harsh but on form to date that's what it looks like.

Hey 'jackpot' is it true that the creeks had a finger pointing meeting tuesday night? Seems coach murgatroyd isn't too happy at the moment with a few of his front running star players? I agree wouldn't right the creek off yet, moore and sherwood coming back in will definately boost the team. If they play anything like they did on anzac day v strath know one will get near them.
Will be interesting to see the result in the bays v willunga game, stop welsh and willunga should be safe. Probably the most even round you could get this week going by the ladder some close results i'm sure.

Yank, Goolwa match was ok today, tiges set it up in the first quarter and pies made no inroads after that but it was a fair physical contest. This Wilson bloke has some big raps on him. I see yank named him best but seriously that's got to be some sort of in house joke. Would be have 10ish possessions, 0 contested marks. Thought durdin on Harvey was the key
