[quote="spot on"]Heard a rumour today Dave Earl to coach Blackwood for 2012. Dave was the coach of Reynella in the SFL the last three years. Any truth in the rumour anyone?[/quote
I couldn't tell you for sure mate. Curious to know who our coach is myself. I've heard several rumours about interviews including Luke Norman, Andrew Jarman, Damian Venning and Grant higgins. so when I get an official email ill pass on the news.
Any news on new player signings around the clubs?

So you don't even know who your own coach is yet?? Well I can tell you they have looked internally.

Heard former Power listed and North Adelaide footballer Wade Thompson was shown around the Torrens Valley facilities last week and a substantial offer was made for his services for 2012.

I wouldn't get too excited about this guy. As NAFC found out, he's a SANFL reserves player only.

This is another example of why TV are going nowhere. They will struggle to fill junior teams and consistently lose junior games by 30+ goals, but will invest obscene amounts in ex SANFL players.

Rumour has it, $1200 a game, but hes closer to the city, instead of the far out regions he was playing last year. It might be a 2 for 1 deal as well if my mail is correct. Also heard D ebert of uraidla will miss a year with a knee reco.

Hell, how could you not say yes after getting a tour of the great torrens valley facilities! Would have been surprised if he didn't put pen to paper that night!

Thompson, for someone who's played an AFL game, is quite average. I think though that having played in Victoria last year, he may possibly only be a 2 pointer, as opposed to a 3 pointer which most country leagues in SA are.

Very short, quick, but skills arent what u would expect of an ex afl player. A lot of money for a name....

Grant Higgins appointed new coach at Blackwood with Damian Venning his assistant. Higgins (Grumpy) has been coaching 17's at Blackwood for a couple of years although Cobby took on the role this season after Grants work commitments couldn't allow him to continue coaching. No doubt he will do a very good job with a lot of very talented youngsters coming through the ranks at Windy Hill!!

Is that the same Grant Higgins that was involved at Flagstaff Hill in the early 2000's?

The position of HFL President is up for election at the next AGM, surely we can replace the incompent one that currently occupies the position. It's time for a change (for the better).

When you pay peanuts you get monkeys. We can't complain as it is a volunteers role. Maybe it is about time that each of the 20 clubs each tipped in $3k and then the ability to pay a topline administrator would a possibility. Other leagues do that now. As our league is a premier league in the state maybe we should be seriously looking at that as well. Just a thought. Although some clubs would not like that as the lose their influence over Owen and the board.

Just out of interest, which other leagues pay a full time administrator to do the job besides the SAAFL? Furthermore, 60k (3/club) is hardly going to attract a top line administrator. Considering $60k being the gross salary, you're probably looking at around a $40k nett job and I haven't factored Super, A/Leave and workcover into that cost either.
