Not really sure what to make of the season so far. Sadly in the past its been relatively predictable however this season has thrown up some surprises and will continue to i would have thought.

Biglands heading to the Bay would see an unhappy Josh Wilson, the man is huge but will be the 2nd biggest man in the league if big Rhett joins the ranks at Encounter Bay. With him and Neely still to add to the very competitive Bays outfit, they are a definite contender for the big one although I havent seen them yet so that comment is a little unqualified.

Harvey facing his old side will certainly see a willing contest, hopefully hes able to take the field after his big collision on the weekend! LF what are the chances of him getting up for this week?

I would say doubtful, it's an impossible injury to hide or strap but I'm sure he would like to play

Very unlikely Rhett will play down there with his commitment as ruck coach with the eagles and also owning the nike store in town, plus his bung knees, very unlikely he will pull the boots on down there...

Looking forward to seeing mt compass's new spearhead parsons, kicking 12 of there 13 goals last week was a great effort. A few of the new players to the comp this year are impressing early in particular the forwards in welsh, parsons and creeks derham. Derham won the anzac medal last wed night pretty handy pick up for the creek. But the rumour is he is a very fast bowler 145 clicks an hour and might be getting a redbacks contract mid year hence no more footy? Have also heard strong rumours that creek are getting some of there ex glenelg players back soon. Is this true 'limb'? Must have got a bit worried after there early couple of losses.

lol - I guess every club has to have their re-building phase! But having only missed the finals 3 times in 16 yrs, I’m sure 0-3 is a bitter pill to swallow.
But do you have some players to come back in yet? Cousins, Sandercock, Guttilla, Watson, James, Weckert, McFarlane, Wilson etc – where are they?

Was an interesting one to say the least. Reporting umpire didn't show so it was thrown out. No sure if any Mclaren posters can shed some light on the situation as it pretty much makes a mockery of the report system. May have saved the offender from a 3 week holiday

Interesting one in the Bays v VH Junior Colts too. Only heard it second hand but apparently Bays had 19 on the field (from after a break I believe rather than an interchange), not sure if a count was called or not but it was realised - 19th player came off. Excuse was made that the lad had ADD or the like (which player's parent wasnt very impressed about)! There was confusion as to whether Bays should lose all score to that time or just the score for the quarter......Bays still awarded the game according to SP????

from memory it happened in the 3rd quarter. there was a head count about 3 or so minutes into the quarter. IMO it had impact on the game and didnt alter the result at all. it went to the tribunal last night and it was decide the club would be fined for the having the extra player on the field but would still be awarded the points as it didnt have an impact on the result.

as for the excuse used, i would put it down to a simple mistake. as at most quarter time breaks in the juniors plenty of moves are made to try and get the kids involved and give them a crack at getting a kick. some kids were moved off the bench and some onto it. obviously there was a misunderstanding and that resulted in 19 on the field.

I saw the incident and should have been two weeks. Behind the play is cowardice and shouldn't be tolerated, especially when the incident involves an 'older' player picking on a kid.

No one is condoning the act but if it was a certain 2 (I reckon it is 3 under the new laws), why wouldnt the umpire show?
Also the "kid" made the first contact and the "kid" is 24 or 25 years old. Can't remember ever taking my ID out on the field.

I played in the game but there was not a lot of talk about this so called incident on the weekend form the Mclaren side of things!

Sound like it must have happended though as a few posters seemed to have witnessed it, a bit weird that the Umpire felt the need to report but not follow it through?

Surely the Tribunal doest look favourably on the trip to Victor on a cold Tuesday night for nothing.

HS the trip to Victor alone when im assuming most if not all umpires live well north of there doesnt appeal to anybody. We hear of this happening a bit that the umpire never shows therefore the player just gets off, whether they're guilty or not surely if theres an incident that warrants a report, or a hearing it needs to be booked in so the umpire can attend, and therefore the penalties can be issues correctly. Sounds like a non event, move on.

This weeks games throw up some interesting ones, and another round of working out whos going to be a challenger this year and who will be making up the numbers. Good start to the season!

When do you stop being a 'kid' in senior footy?

For me it is;

1. If you throw the first punch, you throw away your "i'm a kid, don't hit me" card.
2. If you are 18 and by law, punishable as an adult.

You can't seriously be trying to pull the "he hit a kid" card when he is 24-25.

Maybe he told his dad to let it go as he was embaraseds his father had to report the bloke in the first place because he couldn't stick up for himself and bit off more than he could chew?

It was a dirty hit, behind play from a known dirty player.
Goolwa has cleaned their act up a lot and good work by them for doing that but throwing punches like this is not needed in footy , should have been 2 weeks
