Sunny and 27 on Saturday, should be a nice clean game of football! How is Hahndorf's oval looking?

Rock - we don't have to defend the HFL, just ask anyone who has played in both leagues which one they prefer, its that easy.

Didn't see the game (wet at Mt barker didn't spike my interest) but heard it was a tough encounter. Not sure if anyone cares to give more detail but It looks as though the best 2 sides have made the grand final. Uraidla have the experience and are suited to the oval but wont kick enough to win a GF. Blackwood by 4 goal. after over coming a deficit at half time is my tip.

Careful mate, everytime someone brings this up they get shot down in flames, even if there is credit to the story this time around. Seems like the same stories have been heard by a few different people and from different sources so watch this space.

The two neighbouring leagues could have a reversal of size and level of competition if all of the right things fall in place.

Who knows..............let the flaming begin

You never get in the face of an umpire like that. The HFL needs to take a stand on this and ban him for life. Also the drink runner from Mt Lofty who head butted the Blackwood Assistant Coach at half time needs to get quite a few weeks. Totally disgraceful from both clubs today.

Didn't see the incidents described , but certainly agree that both clubs "adults " crossed the line. A few too many dad's had too much to say all game.
What i found dissapointing was the negative talk from supporters towards their clubs juniors when they made a mistake. Let the kids enjoy being a part of finals .

Not asking you to defend the HFL mate, I've played in both too. 3 years ago I would've said the HFL was streaks ahead but now I'd say the SFL has caught up if not past the HFL. I think when your league gives up on Interleague... well your league just gives up. I think the HFL has lost its soul mainly driven by money hungry players (a lot over-rated)... but who can blame them when extreme amounts of coin is being dished out by soul-less clubs. Just my view mate.

Rock are you saying that there isnt any crazy amounts of money being spent on players from clubs in the SFL? That just seems to be the way footy is heading these days in all leagues hardly just a problem with the HFL.

It wasn't any different 3 years ago, rock, there was plenty of $$ around then too. A bit rough calling the whole league soul-less, effectively that's what you've done as I can't imagine any team not paying at least 2 or 3 players a fair bit.

Tim2010, as a neutral supporter I give you my take on Saturday's game seeing as the forum is hardly lighting up! Also, a good excuse to get my first post out of the way after being a long time reader.

I believe when the Uraidla boys woke up Saturday morning they would have been very happy with the weather conditions that presented themselves, as a cold, windy, wet day at Mt Barker was always going to favour their bigger and more finals experienced bodies. I don't think there's any secret that Onkas would have been hoping for a dry deck to compliment their running game. But with that being said, the conditions were the same for everybody.

Uraidla started the game well, but Onkas fought back and had the game back on level pedalling mid way through the first. A dust up occurred in Uraidla's forward half and as a result one of the Pfeiffer boys (Ben??) was given his marching orders with a red card. Being one man down so early in the match was always going to make it that much harder for Onkas. From there the game was pretty even with Uraidla going into half time 2 goals up.

After half time, Uraidla kicked a couple of early ones to extend the lead to around the 4 goal mark. Goals were traded from this point forward until the end of the quarter. At this point, I think most believed Uraidla had the game well within their taking, maybe except Scotty Sutherland, who made an interesting 3 quarter time speech telling his charges to jump on the ball at every opportunity, because it the ball got out and the Onka boys were allowed to run, they were “screwed!!”

As it would happen, the game freed up a little at the start of the fourth and Onkas got a little run on with the first couple of goals of the quarter. With Onkas having the momentum and being within a couple of straight kicks, Uraidla were able to kick the sealer through a disastrous error from the Onka Valley fullback. From here the heavens opened and Uraidla were able to bottle up the game. Finals scores were Uraidla by 3 goals.

For Uraidla: The 3 Ebert boys were solids contributors with Simon busy up forward kicking 3 and the sealer. Daniel provided his usual polish from across half back and Ricky did a serviceable job when moved onto Shee in the last half. Down provided the Uraidla midfield with first use, whilst was also very solid around the ground. Uraidla’s midfield was also very good and the difference between the two teams.

For Onkas: The usual contributors were a bit down, with Klun, Kirwan and the Tanner boys all have quiet days (although Steve Tanner did have a reasonable last half). Chris Shee was very good in the first half often battling multiple opponents and still being able to provide a contest. Butcher was lively up forward and provided the highlight of the day, with one of the best hangers I have witnessed in country footy.

With all that being said, Uraidla were the better side on the day and thoroughly deserved the victory.

As for this week, and after having played against both sides this year, I would say Uraidla are the more polished unit. Although, we did play them whilst they were still in their undefeated form.

Once again I believe the winner could be decided by the conditions, and I’d have Blackwood favourite if Saturday is the mid 20’s perfect day as forecasted. If a bit of rain pops it’s head up, I’d give the nod to Uraidla.

Final Prediction: Blackwood by 27 points.

Perfect analysis of the game. I think Uraidla were smarted with their match ups by tagging klun and beating Kirwan in the middle the dogs couldn’t get any hard footy. As for this week Myles is the man I would be backing for Best afield honours with Blackwood to get up by 7 goals.
