Season countdown - RAMBLERS (from MV Standard)

the chooks were in last weeks paper and apart from having some pretty ordinary looking training gurnseys on, their wasnt a huge amount of new things to read.

it seems that they havnt recruited anyone but are instead looking to blood their junior players this year. they dont appear to have lost anyone from the end of last year. i guess this is why their hasnt been too much discussion on this forum about them.

dalwood talks about how it has been 21 years since their last flag, the longest of any of the RMFL clubs and he thinks if it doesnt happen this year, it may not for a little while. and they will/should be looking for a new coach next year.

'Ramblers Best' were Ryan Viney, Ryan Morris and Tyson Matthews and the one to watch is Ty Pfeiffer. Other names mentioned were the two O'Niels, adam jackson, Gerardi. zadow and marchetti are mentioned as being 'still handy but they have got other priorities in life.'

seems to be that Ramblers have got the talent on the field (three mail medalists!!), they just need to beat sides come finals time, which seems to have been a bit of an issue the last few years...

apparently they have been working hard on their weaknesses, attempting to turn them into strengths. These were their intensity and funnily enough, their 'physical contact'. sounds pretty simple in theory but im unsure if you can change this in 8 weeks of training?

what are poeples thoughts

Thanks for that info floataboy.

Its amazing that the chooks haven't made a GF in the last 2 years with their squad on paper. Theres obviously something missing whether it be pride in the jumper or whatever. They had Gary Attrill coach them 10 or so years ago, hes probably the type of coach they need now, to instil that toughness in them.

yeah they definitely sizzled out in finals last year.
dalwood kept on mentioning that the coach was 'too nice a guy' and that because he has been around the club for so long, and knows most of the lads he is coaching, he is too much like their 'mate' as apposed to their coach.

will be intersting to see how they fare in 08 after all their 'toughness training' during pre season. it seems a little funny that you have to try to teach an A grade team how to be tough?? you either got it or you dont i say...

I thought Ryan Morris had gone to Lincoln South or something? You would think if he was going there to play it has more to do with just his footy, otherwise that"s a hell of a long way to collect a pay cheque for footy!

Seems unlikely now. Was probably just a rumour, afterall it was a few months ago and nothing has been said about it since, so looks like he'll be lining up for the chooks again.

morris is standing next to the coach in the team photo (even though the photos have been perhaps a little misleading so far...) so you assume that he was at least training with them on that night.

i agree GWW, if there was a sniff of truth to that rumour, surely he would be a big discussion point on the EP forum but noone knew anything about him.
either someone getting their wires very crossed, or someone making it up??

fancy that on a forum like this

What position did both these guys play? Wasn't Harrowfield a forward for them?

Yeah he can play both as a forward and as a midfielder. I would have thought he would have a contract with Imps though, i guess we'll find out soon enough.

A couple of the Cooper brothers (T & M) have left Mannum to go play at Myponga. Were they any good? I couldn't see their names in the best players of any games or goals scored, so i'm thinking it won't be much of a loss?

big news if true... but i havnt heard anything to back up the harrowfield bit at least and surely people over here would be talking about it!! i have heard that he is keen to head back to the coast at some stage, but not this year. i can see that no doubt ports would have spoken to him. as to him actually going home though im a little more unsure...
i have also heard from the ladies that lukes missus is very keen for netball up here this year at imps(and shes pretty handy) so surely if luke is going home, the missus would know... and every other netballer would know...

dont know too much about jenner but i guess there is every chance that this is possible?? what does he do for work? does his old man run a farm??
