Is he zero as a former player, or because of the level of footy he played last year?

Level he played. He played c's for henley

Interesting loophole that one. If they had taken a player from our club, he'd be worth 2 points and yet Jones is a zero, despite us playing in the same division.

Adelaide Uni and SHOC would probably be the only other clubs in a similar situation. They have 4-5 gems running around in their C-Grade.

maybe four clubs in div 7 and one in div 6. pretty sure adelaide uni will be the only club with C's and D's playing in div 6 in 2012

LF - so is that your understanding - he will be zero points? I was chatting to someone from our club yesterday about this who's job it was to know the points system back when it came in and he thought that perhaps he would still be 2 points. From the sounds of it there arent many clubs with cat 1 and 2 sides in - so maybe it isn't a big issue? Otherwise leagues would be raping Div 4 sides? - some decent players at that level.

Div 1, 2 and 3 are Category one (3 points) and the rest are Category 2 (2 points).

A player who has played a majority of matches for the Senior team of a Club or Clubs in a Category One or Two League in their previous playing season – an additional three (3) points should be added in the case of a Category One League and an additional two (2) points should be added in the case of a Category Two League.

A lawyer would be able to make that say anything they wanted! ie Henley (Club) have a senior team in category 1 and a senior team in category 2!?!?!

Similar to how an SANFL (state league) player is 4 points, but SANFL reserves is a Category one league (ie 3 points)

"played a majority of matches for the Senior team of a Club"

Implies the singular, ie. a club can only have one senior team, therefore Henley's senior team is it's Div 1 team.

Quichey is on it. Henley's Div 6 side is their C Grade team therefore 0 points. There are only 3 or 4 clubs in this situation so its rare case. One of our current players (played in 2011) is also 0 because of this reason, which the GSFL allowed so there is no issue.

"majority" is an important word in that particular rule as well.

ill be interested to see how he goes with some better players around him.
he just about rolled us single handed at one stage this year. solid midfielder with a massive engine. him kicing the ball into harvey and mickan will be dangerous.

P.S please continue to pinch all the good players from div 6 (as long as they arent from CLG) :P

Isn't hte bottom line that if a player appears in more b'c or d grade games at any club including SAAFL div 1-66 then they are 0 points?

For example if I player 12 div 1 b'grade games and 8 div 1 a'grade games then I'd be a zero pointer = is this correct?

Jones has played D1 footy. A gun is a gun regardless of where his team finished this year.

My mail from Henley was he only played c grade as his boss / work colleague was the coach. Was a paid player in the c grade. Dont shoot the messenger on this one though. He is a very good player and will do well wherever he chooses to play.

Possibly but if you actually read my post properly you would see that I said he wanted to 'play with his mates' his boss may have been coach but even if he wasnt he still would have played there last season.

does this loop hole open up a can of worms ? lets say a club with plenty of coin recruits a player, pays him some sort of coin to play a lower grade for a year then signs him the year after and gets him at 0 points, could this work or am i seing the points system wrong ?

So there was/is a working connection. As I said dont shoot the messenger about my first comment. Sounds to me, what I have been told has a little substance to it. This came from a Henley person to me on the down low. Either way could have played higher and is a smart player. Interesting to note Harvey came from a div 6 club a few years ago and he seemed to go alright
