The forward they lost last year was a guy by the name of Semmler who previously played at Keith. He moved to Port Lincoln and played with Marble Range.

Yeah that was him, they had a bit of bad luck last year missing out on Joe Pedlar, Semmler, Eckermann broke his leg early and Traeger leaving for WA. Bring back Randall Pearce and Dizzy Raymond

Interesting to see Mannum has entered the pre season Loxton competition. Looks like they could be up against it with the quality of some of the other clubs.

Its the Roos write up in the Standard this week, anyone read it?

yeah it was pretty much the same as the rest. they are hoping for a top three finish this year!

appears as though they have lost 'little to none' and gained a couple. got 1 or 2 from karoonda and some blokes from adelaide (not sure if these are the Pooraka? lads- was it pooraka?)
they are also pushing a fair few of their juniors by the sounds of it.

i get the impression that they would need to be pretty lucky to make the top three this year but seem to be in good stead for the years to come.

yeah i cant remember their names either but dalwood said something along the lines of 'their recruits are unproven' which gives you the impression they werent superstars. maybe they are keeping the westies guy under wraps till the season starts?

Sounds like theres going to be quite considerable competition for 4th and 5th this season, TB and Meningie will have to improve a fair bit obviously to compete with Mypo and Mannum.

I wonder if one of the players Mannum got from Karoonda was Justin Maloney, hes been out in the Mallee League for a few years now, possibly getting on in age now though??

On Mannum…. Surely their full forward (Wilko I think it was) would have retired by now – that will put a dent in their forward line because he always seemed to bag a couple of goals each week.
On their juniors… Didn’t they forfeit a few snr colts games 2 years ago? – perhaps there was a few quality youngsters back then getting an early seniors experience because of their situation. (Good to see)

Also, aren’t Karoonda fielding a team still this year? Why are there players leaving to Mannum?

from the standard article...
karoonda recruits - steve thiele and chris and josh rudigar.
juniors that were mentioned include reece bullard, sam schlueter, jarrad woodward and ben walker
it mentions they picked up 'a few recruits from the SAAFL' but doesnt mention any names. there is a josh gould in the photo. did he play at the roos last year or is he possibly one of these recruits. he doesnt look familiar but seems a likely sized lad. bigger than warno in the photo anyway.

no mention of wilko being around so one could assume he has retired. i dont recall he kicked too many goals last year but no doubt will leave a big man hole up fwd

There was also a bit of mention somewhere on this site where some of Mannum's recruits from the amateurs may not be playing for Mannum afterall. That photo may have been taken a while ago who knows it could be like the Weidemann situation with Tailem where he trained earlier but decided to go back to his original club.

yeah the weeds thing was pretty weird. i would assume the standard would only take the photo the week or so before it goes in the paper. and i think the teams organise who goes in the pics, so why would they put someone in who is not a definite. unless he just decided to pull the pin all of a sudden.
surely it cant be the same scenario with gould as well can it??

A couple of Pedler brothers (previously from Eyre Peninsula), their full forward, Brad Martin kicked 75 goals last year, and Sam? Flinn, midfielder, who previously played in the Hills League
