Duke,
in reference to Leske, yours and Torontos points have merit. He is an absolute gun player and champion. Freelings real problem on Saturday is that they didnt really have a plan B when the Ango midfield got on top. Which should of been play man on man all over the ground. They went toe to toe and got exposed over the last 3 quarters. Darren does find a lot of his own ball, which he's damned if he does and damned if he doesnt, because if he doesnt there isnt a huge amount of midfield depth who will, so he tries to attack. Oz didnt spend a lot of time looking after his direct opponent, who gets a lot of clearances and sets his team up, which was costly. Its ok for Darren to play this way, if some of the others are given run with roles and execute them well.
I remember his opponent on Saturday being closed down last year in the same game after quarter time by a more dour midfielder who played close. Trouble was he already had 5 or 6 clearances in the first quarter and the damage was done. Maybe next time. In saying this, not sure if he would make my top 6, line ball, only because there were way too many other passengers. I agree with Toronto's best. Best of Luck to Ango, I reckon they will go alright this year, probably need a key forward, a fit Bascombe would make a big difference, because, as well as he played, Pechy's not gonna kick a bag each week. Especially against the stronger teams.
As for us, we've just gotta look for a more sustained effort over the course of the game, rather that just a good 20 minutes. Lets hope this comes against Barossa this week.
