Great Southern use Noarlunga every year and not sure how that works.

Nah a fair bit more to it than that.

We will have Spalding GF next year and all alcohol will be purchased through the local Spalding Pub as we have an arrangement with them. We want all the money staying within our community. Otherwise, we would then have to transport it 35 minutes down the road. Compared to literally having it dropped at our door stop. Nevermind the flow on sales to the local pub, petrol station and general store before and after the game. The same applies to all the food caterers, suppliers.

Nevermind the fact that we get to have such a huge event helps with grant funding, we are currently getting nets behind the goals based on a grant we done which revolved around having the major event next year.

Then there is the intangible prestige of playing a GF at your own ground, we already have people lining up to come back next season to have a crack at playing a home grand final that may only happen once in your life.

Clare Oval is the worst surface in the league as well which doesn't help the argument.

Well done BSR

way too good,

the saints played like they were hoping to win
the tigers played like they wanted to win

Saiints wanted to close it down and make it contested which they did but they forgot to spread when they had the ball, played right into BSR hands

The Tigs!!!!!

What a few days its been. What a win!!! The guys couldn't have done the club prouder. This one will be special, apart from 2017 probably the first of this dynasty in which the team was genuine underdogs!!! Five in a row!

Time to have a bit of rest, watch the replays and move on to 2025 and a Spalding GF!!!! The last box to tick off for this playing group, never won a home grand final. Lets go!!!

Surprised to see some of the names, obviously knew Blake Launer was off and thought maybe Chris Schmidt and Andrew Prior might call it a day.

Early doors but some of the zero pointers rumoured to be coming back to BSR is out of this world. Lets wait and see what actually happens though.

Been alot of chat at my work the last two days regarding the quality of the GF, the players, where it compares to other leagues etc.

I don't know how it compares to others to other leagues but on Saturday we had:

2 x ex AFL players (Chris Schmidt & Aaron Nietschke)
2 x 2024 SANFL League Footballers (Alex Morgan & Dustin Launer)
3 x 2024 SANFL U/18 Footballers (Dougal Ashby, Campbell Lawry & Tarik Sauer)
2 x 2023 SANFL League Footballers (Jackson Lee & Blake Launer)
1 x 2022 SANFL League Footballer (Matt Prior)
1 x SANFL Reserves Runner Up Magarey Medalist (Matt Longbottom)
3 x SANFL Reserves Footballers (Luke Hayes, Leigh Kimpton & Dayne Pfitzner)

Not to be a Debbie Downer, but Nietschke never played an AFL or VFL game.

SFL would have quite a few ex SANFL players (league, reserves & U18s)

Fair shout......maybe should have written AFL (Listed)

There definitely seems to be a rise in high quality footballers coming into the league.

Just having a very quick look at the Barossa grand final....i believe one AFL listed player in Isaya Mackenzie but then lots of ex SANFL league footballers (around 10 the depth is real strong). Interestingly though apart from Hoskin and Zac East most of them last played in the SANFL 4-5 years ago.

Both A and B Grade coaches at BSR to go around again. The temptation of a home grand final for both Spalding based coaches was too much of a temptation.

Pressos last night Matt Longbottom wins the B&F

Ash Bruce confirms he will go around

Silly season is upon on but my good the names getting thrown around at pressos…….scary.

Also rumour Southern Saints have picked up Brendan Dew…..good get if true.
