If this is what happened then there is no problem, this is what should happen and I retract my comment about it happening at two games.

Unfortunately this is not what happened at Hahndorf.

I was at the game too just watching some local footy. The player in question (a tall guy for lobey) got sent off, stayed off for his time and came back on and got sent off later-on so I didn't see any problem.

care to explain this further Chopper? as I saw it yesterday, there was no problem with the umpiring yesterday. In both decisions the umpired looked at the time-keepers box with the card up, until he got some sort of signal, so whats your problem?

The problem was bertie beetle that the timekeepers didn't give the signal to confirm they saw the yellow card. They didn't see it so didn't record the time of sendoff. The umpire must hold up the yellow card until they get response from the timekeepers. not that hard.

Went to Lofty and saw the gaping gap between a competitive side on an 'off' day and a premier side having an 'on' day. The scoreline is close to a fair reflection of the class that the Demons possess and (IMHO) they have a 3rd flag in the bag. They seem to adjust to whatever the other team does and their precision going goal-to-goal was A1. The game was good until half time with the margin about 25 points, but then Uris came out and I think kicked 8 unanswered goals. It was a bath.
But like I said, clearly an off day and the Lobey Devs game should be a great hit out to make the Devs earn their points (IF they get over the line) and get some confidence back. A couple out but uris were just too good.

There was a massive argument between the Blackwood Timekeeper and the Central Umpires over this at half time. Both parties were not happy at all. I suspect that as the umpires were unprofessionally ordering the timekeeper out off their rooms and making a scene they didn't really care about solving the timekeepers concerns and didn't want to discuss it further.

So Trooper, are Lobethal taking this any further?

Mick Taylor, what are you doing when you are "coaching" these umps. It seems they don't know the rules, so it can't be that. Most don't move out of the centre square so it can't be fitness training. Are Wednesday nights at Mt Barker just a session at the bar?

Wouldn't have a clue Tank. From what i saw the umpiring was poor yet those infringement decisions don't cost you games alone. The failure to adapt to the umpires styles can cost you if mouth off or react too much. Its best to just get on with the game. The ruckman from Loby who was sent off twice in the game was still in the wrong and his undisciplined behaviour cost them the game not the miss handling of the send off.

Fair enough Trooper, a couple of Yellow cards and poor disipline is going to hurt anybody. I was just wondering if there was anything to come out of the confrontation between the timekeepers and the umps, particularly if this happened in the umpire's change room? An official complaint from Loby or an umpire report?

It was the Blackwood time keeper who was in the firing line with the umps, so it may be up to him and his club if they wished to pursue it. But was definately unprofessional on the umps behalf in an area with supporters from both clubs all around.

Ah! that explains it a bit, that blackwood timekeeper is an absolute peanut sometimes

Still, no excuse for the umps to get it wrong

Hard to see how they have the flag in the bag with the competition this tight. No doubt they must have played well to beat Mt lofty but Mt Barker seem to be up and about now and I'm excited to see how the rest of the year pans out. Only early but it will be a tense and important month to shape the top 5.

I agree, it is a VERY tight comp but it'll take a massive effort for any other team to take down Uraidla.
I don't mind putting it out there - Uris will win the flag.

For mine, Uriis will not win the flag, and I am not goin to guess who will. Anyone of those that make the 5 can! Selections;
Blackwood to beat Bridgewater by 12 goals. The wet will be loved by the raiders' young lads but the bigger bodies of the Woods will win the game! McCormick to kick 5 and be best on.
Ironbank to beat OV at home, they are playing their home deck nicely and OV just have not clicked yet, and are running out of time. 7 goal margin. Yeomans and Williams to be BOG.
Lobey v Lofty. Going for Lofty by 4 points but wanted to tip a draw! NPG to get the chocolates.
TV to beat Hahndorf. TV's best 5-6 are awesome and will win in tight wet conditions by 2 goals! Neely BOG with L Ellis to kick 6.
Uri v Mt Barker. Going with the heart here and tipping the roos by 8 points. Can not wait. Nunan to shine in the middle on a wet day and Leith to kick 4 in a low scoring game!

Thoughts????

Lebron - you just dismissed Uris, so now you have 4 to choose from... ;)
Blackwood over Bridgey by 19 goals. Talls don't get any smaller, the ball just has to get down to Dundovic and Gigney and bang.
I/B over Onkas - home deck BIG advantage for the Thunderers and they're showing a bit. 4 goals in a VERY low scoring affair.
Lofty over Lobey. Lofty were fit and will be steaming after last week. Lobey will give it a nudge ALL day and won't go down by much. Maybe only a kick in it. M Stapleton to be BOG with run on a wet day from the backlines.
Hahndorf to bounce back in a game that will define their season. 4 points.
Uris at home over your boys, Lebron. Should be a cracker. Maybe only 11 points in it.

Ok maybe I didn't say it properly, I think it is very stupid to say that Uraidla have the premiership in the bag. I think there are 7 teams at the moment, that if they make the 8, can put together 2 or 3 final wins! Look at Uraidla, have been winning, but convincing? Barker have lost some games, and a great player, but the youth and excitement is huge at the moment. The woods have the best forward line at the moment and will kick big scores, and with a solid midfield and a solid defensive unit, they are a very very good chance! Lofty have shown promising signs, and on their day can beat anyone, same goes for IB and Hahndorf. Lobethal and TV are the unknowns, can definitely play footy, but stability and a solid performance each week is hurting them. My tip is Blackwood V Uraidla/Mt Barker/Ironbank GF!

I think Ironbank will sneak into the finals but you must remember, they dont play at home in the finals. This in mind i dont think ironbank could ever make it to a GF

I agree that Uri are favourites but not many premierships are won in June! Long way to go and injuries can ruin any sides chances. Its a bit hard not to pick Uri at the moment, given they are undefeated!

I have to agree re I/B as well, lebron - having them in the GF is more outlandish than my claim!

Nearly fell off my chair JQ! I thought for a second that you agreed with Lebron ;)

I would hope nobody at Ironbank is thinking that far ahead yet, we were 1-4 just a few weeks ago...
