yeah there isnt a lot.
mannum struggled for talls last year and had brad wakefield playing out of position in the ruck, imps had a couple of young fellas- they were big, but not really talented. i also think they had a really tall fellah, someone roberts, but again not overly talented. tailem were the same, a big strong young fellah with not a huge amount of talent. Ramblers had a good ruckman in james dalwood but i think he has left? mypo had chris webb but it looks as though he is gone, they still have pedler who used to ruck for them, unsure of his age now though, could be getting on. meningie had adam morris who was pretty handy but now he has left so who knows who the bears have in ruck.
so yeah, it looks as though jervois have the wood in the rucking stakes

Who are the key forwards Floataboy?? Any new guys to look out for?

fwds this year...
imps - luke harrowfield and maybe some new guy?
Ramblers - clint gerardi and ryan morris and daniel zadow every now and then
mypo - cameron wells and brad martin and some new guy from woodie south?
mannum - andrew warnest and ... andrew warnest :?
tailem - ?
meningie - ?
jervois - several options, of which hills can fill us in...
based on who was around last year and who has left/retired/recruited this year

feel free to add to it...

What's the word from Tailem Town on a possible merger with Karoonda? Some of the terms to this deal would be interesting....

Didn't see too many names listed in the senior teams, only Henry Hodge listed in Sturt's Reserves side. Brodie Martin not named. Haven't heard any details on how juniors went either, i presume they played under 19's/17's trials as well??

hodgey eh, i know he has been in town for a year or so, was he a handy junior or what? i dont remember him from the comp up here? whats your thoughts on him GWW.
is brodie playing at sturt? he must have been injured i guess?
the juniors played on the sunday, i think there were a couple of boys from imps, jerv and mypo perhaps that have been training down there with the 19's. maybe even a young rambler? will try to find out and let everyone know..
will be interesting to see how many of them make it.

Yeah Hodge is an Imps boy, been at Sturt last 2 or 3 years, doesn't look like he'll make SANFL league, but who knows. Brodie Martin got rookied by the Crows end of last year, but will be at Sturt while he develops, yeah think hes injured because he'd get a game in the Reserves if he was fit.

There would be a few young guys in Sturt's juniors actually. I think the younger Hill brother from Jervois, Thomson from Ramblers who won Sturt's under 17's b & f last year, good chance of getting drafted i'd say. Also Dylan Hogarth is still eligible for Under 19's as well. Plus probably Omalley from Mannum and Daniel Gregory from Tailem. Haven't heard much about how the trials went.

did hodgey play any a's games for imps before going to town. or did he go to school down there?
just trying to get an idea of the kids ability. is he actually a gun or has he just been training with sturt for the last few years...

Played juniors at Imps, won an under 15's medal i think, would have played a few A grade games for Imps as well. Dont think he'll be a champion, but if he goes back to Imps in a few years he'd be very handy you'd imagine. Played Reserves for Sturt 2 years ago when Sturt had no depth, but with increased depth last year mainly played 19's.

fair enough. i suppose imps would hope to get him back at the end of the year perhaps (last year of 19s?) unless he heads out to an amateur club. no doubt they would happily accept a no points player back into their team. hes a fair size lad too from memory. could possibly play key position
although is his old mans aquadic centre reamining open or is it still closing? if he has no job up here he may continue to stay in town.

Not really sure. Think he may be too old for 19's now, although not certain. I'd say he'll finish up at Imps eventually, and for a zero pointer he'd be very welcome i'd say.

I've heard that he may actually be lining up for Kangarilla in Hills country league this year, i think thats where Wayne Stringer coaches, and Michael Raidis plays.

It may take Smelty some encouragement to play, he wasn't a first choice pick for Mypo last year and is keen to coach again. Bit stiff to miss out on the Mypolonga job probably left him in limbo

Centre half forward / forward pocket but yeah I thought he was still pretty handy – wasn’t their best forward however he always bobbed up with a couple

Mypo had a recruit lined up from Adelaide but went elsewhere at the last minute can't remember the name but had a fitness centre in the city. Was going to be him, Brad Martin, Lee Blake as the tall fwds. They nearly had Joe Pedler last year which would have allowed James to go forward and pinch hit. Smelty is still handy def agree but doesn't rip a game apart like he used to and would still like to and with that Fwd line might have got top heavy. (Not a problem the tigers are used to)
