Tip of the day if you are at encounter bay oval. Pack the car up, get to hahndorf and watch the hfl gf. 10,000 people quality football. Unbelievable stuff. Really puts or gf's to shame

In What way does it put ours to shame?
Crowd wise?
Quality wise?
Venue wise?
Wheres the 10,000 figure come from?

Myponga won the 'B' grade.

'A' grade 1/4 time
Strath 4 - 4 (Kicked with a strong wind)
L.Ck 2 - 4

I ask the same question what the hell was wrong at the Bay today.. how can you fault the Venue.. Bay oval looks great however with a few sandy spots.. Catering spot on.. Second Booze bar on the hill.. Exceptional changerooms.. best inthe League... How can you even think of faulting the Venue... Main problem today was the shocking wind.. but would have been just as bad at victor or even Goolwa..
GSFL were pleased with the crowd... Kids on the gate selling the budgets sold out.. so I ask why you question the venue..

Dont think LuvsFooty was having a go at E.Bay.
His comment referred to the weather (wind)

Think he was just saying that the Grand Final at Hahndorf exceeds the Grand Finals in the GSFL in the way of Crowd, atmosphere and quality of footy, all of which could be debated by all of us.

I think the team that won the second final has the home ground change rooms. So Langhorne Creek should have the away change rooms.

IF it's an official rule of the GSFL that the higher ranked team gets the grounds HOME changerooms then so be it. Dont think it'd have any result of the game tho. Think the players will have more important things to worry about other than what shower room they'll use after the game.

dunno about clubs being happy about the home final scenario JJ. I heard Willunga were enquiring about getting it moved, shows it concerns them! I don't blame them as the GF should be on neutral territory imo, but as I understand it the clubs voted the 10 year rotation in themselves - knowing full well it would happen someday.

Not having a go at either team or encounter bay it was a well hosted day. The standard is never easy to judge from league to league just thought that the protection that hahndorf oval had from the wind lent itself to better footy

It was more about the crowd and the pure numbers through the gate. Hahndorf is an easy drive from Adelaide but we consider ourselves to be one of the best if not the best league and should also be drawing those types of crowds plus some. This weekend with 2 of the best country footy sides in Sa going around we should be promoting this game. There is only competition from the sfl as most gf's are done. Let's get some advertising in the messenger, argus, times, Murray valley standard and hills courier and get a bumper crowd. Some dollars from external people rather than the same old gsfl faces would be a bonus
You can love football, but it wont always love you back!

I think if the ground doesn't move to a neutral oval for the A grade then the top team should get the home changerooms. If a side already has the home ground advantage why should they get any extra for finishing second. I'm sure Willunga with three of their sides finishing top would prefer the home rooms with their warm up room out the back, will this mean Willunga Bs and u17s follow the A grade next door or do they still have the home rooms?
At the end of the day I'm sure it won't have much effect on the outcome of the game, but if I was in the Willunga camp I would want any edge over Langhorne Creek I could get. Especially seeing they haven't beaten them there since 2005.

If the clubs have voted the 10 year rotation of the GF in, theres simply NO issue, everyones got the same opportunity to play in a home GF.
If it wasn't for the Floods in L.Creek last year (oval gets flooded about 1 in every 10 - 15 years) the GF this year would've been at Gawler i think.
Come GF day, i think the home ground advantage is over rated, it would only be 1 of about 20 - 30 factors that will decide the winner. Choice of change rooms would be 1/2 a factor.
A&EHCA have played their Cricket finals on the home grounds of the top rated teams for about the last 10 years and it's just accepted now and not an issue.
Not sure what plans the LCFC have in accommodating the large crowd expected, the only problem i see with the L.Creek ground in reguards to spectator viewing is that there are no raised areas around the ground for viewing the game and if cars are parked all the way around it, good viewing spots will be at a premium.

All valid points i guess but what about the fact that this GF could be one of the best in years (hard to beat last years i guess). Willunga will enquire/whinge about the venue but if any club is good/lucky enough to jag one at home, good luck to them. Players won't care where it is.
The game should be fast, high scoring, with very little defence on a very good oval.
Steele vs Feast is worth the $8 itself. Also a few to hang up the boots after saturday, one imparticular from Willunga who is a gun bloke/player that would has been one of the best midfielders to grace the Gsfl over the last 15 years. Well done "Old Bull".

In the Ressies i do believe that Pongy can get up but they will have to play at there very best.

Hey Limb, will your club be setting up areas for each club?

Would like to make it clear,we Willunga don't give a toss where the gf is, we'll play them in the bloody carpark if we have to! as for the changerooms we don't care if we have to get changed in the local phone box. #whateverittakes!

Being the professional team Willunga are, not for a moment i would've thought they'd be distracted by such things but obviously some do.

As has been already mentioned, the allocation of changerooms will be one of the more minor matters but just to put it to rest.. a memo was sent to all clubs at the start of the finals series from the GSFL Secretary which detailed all the finals info and included in that memo was the following:

ALLOCATION OF FINALS CHANGEROOMS

1. The following shall be the way in which the changerooms will be allocated for the Finals.

a) The home Club shall use their own changerooms irrespective of where they finish at the end of the Minor Round. The Team which finishes higher on the Premiership ladder at the end of the Minor Round will use the home Club’s changeroom unless the following occurs:

1) The home Club is playing.
2) If two teams from the one Club follow each other, the home Clubs rooms will go to the higher grade EG Junior Colts finish 5th and the Senior Colts finish 4th in the Elimination Final from the one Club, both teams will change in the home Clubs rooms. If Junior Colts finish 4th and Senior Colts finish 5th both will use the away Clubs room.
3) Clubs with teams following each other will change in the same room.
4) If a Club has all 4 teams playing on the one day and the A Grade is the lower side – all teams from that Club will change in the away teams rooms.

and WoW... I believe that each of the competing clubs will be having their own designated area cordoned off for their supporters. I'd imagine that the Muddies faithful will be placed somewhere close to a bar!

Re: HFL Central Division
Absolutely heartbreaking loss for us yesterday. 5 goals up at 3/4 time to lose by a point was shattering! What a great game of footy though!! Would easily match it with SAAFL div 1. Period. The atmosphere was the best I've seen at any country footy game. Plenty of passion and what its all about. Tough way to go out for Cobb, Herbert, Gigney, mcormick & Salievic but that's footy!!
Any estimates on the crowd yesterday? Would have thought over 3000. Sensational buzz on the far wing!

estimation of 3,000 + crowd is a touch different to 10,000

saturdays game was only a prelim final so u cant expect every man and his dog to be there.

i think depending on the amount of different clubs involved in Grandfinals on the particular day will depend on how strong the crowd becomes. along with the other factors of weather etc..

Official crowd last year was 6000 at HFL GF. Was at least as big this year, probably slightly more. No way as high as 10K but much higher than 3.

Crowd at McLaren a couple years back was pretty big I thought. Lots of local interest with Willunga A and JC , Mclaren Bs and Pongy v Compass (SC) participating IIRC.

Heard that a goal umpire has been relieved of his duties for the Grand Final this week due to his performances not being up to standard.
