Hopefully Onkas get up this week and pay tribute to "Blanket" and his service to the club.
Good luck boys!

I wish all teams good luck on Saturday, it’s been a long-preseason and it’s good to finally get into the proper season.

I would urge all football supporters to get up to Blackwood Hill Oval on Saturday and watch Blackwood host Ironbank, in what will be a emotional day with the club paying respect to club legend Simon Heinsen who sadly passed away. Best of luck lads and do him proud.

On a side note, Blackwood's under 17's coach has had to stand-down due to work commitments amongst other things, to be replaced by A-Grade player and assistant, Kym Cobb.

Ok, I really hope this is untrue, but I have just been told by a 'friend' that he was at TV training last week, and they're numbers were ok, but Mr Hughes has said aloud for all nearby to hear, that he wished he had never come up to Central Division. This was largely due to players leaving, the players he'd recruited wanting more money and the local 'kids' starting to ask for money upwards of $200 a game when they have barely played 10 A grade games! If this is true, shame on Hughes and the kids, if untrue, I apologise, but my 'friend' says he was no more than 5 metres away and heard most of his conversation that he was loudly saying!

That's a shame if true, what an awesome start to their promotion.
I can't say I feel pity, welcome to the big league!

Well isn't that the culture that he has been responsible for creating since he has been there?!! With the points system coupled with fickle recruits the local players are in a tremendously powerful position. Screw him for all he is worth or willing to spend I reckon, that is what he, as a coach has taught his players!!

Also I think many of the tips have been very PC so far. If Bridgy or TV get within 11goals of Lofty or Uraidla they should sing the club song afterwards because that will be a win. I am thinking closer to a 20goal margin in each game.

Lobey v Barker will be interesting. I certainly think Barker will win comfortably but I think Lobey will put up a good fight. The same applies to the Blackwood v IB game IMO.

Hahndorf v Onkas will be game of the round. I heard some Onkas players may not be playing though due to a wedding? Is this true? Any names?

After scrolling through the clearances I noticed an Aaron Kite has a clearance pending to Torrens Valley. This wouldn't be the Aaron Kite who was on the Crows list and has played with Norwood and switched to the Eagles this year, would it?

wouldn't think so.....but if it is, wont be playing for a while.

Blackwood versus Ironbank results -

A-Grade - Blackwood : (14. 11- 95) defeated Ironbank : (11. 11 - 77). Ironbank were never really in the game all day. They kicked 3-4 goals later in the last quarter to bring down the margin, but on the down-side for Blackwood, Padroth did an ankle, not sure how bad though.

B-Grade - Blackwood defeated Ironbank - not sure of final score but it was by a couple of goals. Blackwood came back in the last quarter to secure a memorable win.

17's - Blackwood thrashed Ironbank - the score was about 30 goals to 1

15's - Not sure

13's - Not sure

any other results? how did Torrens Valley go in there first Centrals hit-out?

Onkas V Hahndorf:

A Grade: Onkas 12.14.86 Def hahndorf 11.6.72 - Onkas were strong all day but hahndorf kicked a sneaky few in the last couple of minutes. Onkas played a very different style of footy from the last few years

B Grade: Onkas won by about 2-3 Goals - hahndorf were up by about 6 goals at half time but onkas mounted a good come back.

Under 17's - Onkas won by about 13 goals which is good considering Hahndorf won the flag last year and Onkas didn't win a single game.

All and all a good day for the doggies

I didn't get to the games this week but is there too much to be read into the TV game? They were up against the premiers. Mind you, 4 goals...
I was told that Bridgey were 20 goals down halfway through the 3rd, so i think that could have been evern worse! Sounds like they're really gonna struggle.
Lebron - were Lobey that much better than last year? Still a fair win for you guys but wasn't it out at 20-odd goals last season? Not that I wanna see Lobey do well...

I was told Mount Barker were pretty much full strength and Loby were a bit unlucky not to be closer if not level at 3/4 time. See what happens over the next few rounds and how their depth holds up. Loby will be down a few due to an interstate function next week, but are hoping the couple that missed this week through injury will be back. It will be tough against the reigning premiers but good to see some encouraging signs from work the Tigers Committee and Coaches have been putting in.

JQ a well done to Lobey is in order. They have recruited well and are very fit, wil definitely improve on last year, probably finish about 6-7. As for the Roo boys, it wasn't a dominating performance, always had the Tigers covered, and some impressive signs for the fringe players who got a game, I thought they really stood up!

But seriously, where is Vaughan?

dont really think it is fair to say that they always had them covered??? the game wasnt really sewn up until half way through the last when Mt Barker kicked away!! until that point Lobethal matched it with the best and are definately on the way back to earning some respect in the comp and not just being the easy beats!! standing outside the changerooms after the game the Mt Barker coach certainly wasnt happy with what had just happened with the spray his boys got!! the finally score definately didnt show how close the game was!!!

Chopper you should know that all of lebron's posts are written with a strong whiff of arrogance in the air. His last post is as much humility as he has ever shown! I guess you can be arrogant when your team only had one loss for the entire previous season. Wait a minute........
