Also see that Ed Johnston is giving Tom Hanks from castaway a run for his money with the disgusting looking facial hair he is proudly showing!!! Tigers for big improvers this year

I haven't had a look at the clearance page for a couple of days and at the time I didn't see too many clearances to Lobethal. Not suggesting they haven't picked up any players but you think you'd have the clearance ball rolling at this stage.

Jimmy Skinner is a jet. Played some good ressies footy at Norwood and Nitschke has got a couple other younger NWD lads out there with him. From talking to a few people at Lobey they arent expecting huge improvements but be much more competative and you never know

If Tim Jenkins plays he's also a gun.

Some interesting chat on the Country Div site re relegation. It appears at the moment that the set up for promotion/relegation is pretty average. The 2 Country grand finalists are available for promotion at the end of this season, with the first offer going to the premier. If they refuse, the runner up gets the option. However, the relegation side of it is based on OVERALL club performance in Central division. IMHO this is sh$t, the Central Club won't even know if they're up for relegation until Country have played their GF, still then with a possible reprieve coming in the form of the Country grand finalists NOT wanting to be promoted. And stating the obvious - you could possibly have a strong Country A grade team win a flag with not-so-good B grade, juniors etc come up to Central. Doubtful, as the club in question would take stock of everything involved, but still not outside the realms of possibility!
No doubt this will be contentious!

agreed

for mine the two biggest issues are the fact that too much emphasis is put on juniour clubs performing and it's based on a single year.

Yep, Steve Wallace. It got some coverage a few pages back. Went for the Happy Valley job but got pipped by Dent. According to some Happy Valley faithful they're glad to see him move to Onkas.

So can anyone tell me, without getting into the "we had 8 out... well we had 10 out... well we had 20 out" bullshit that generally comes with pre-season trial games. How do Plympton look in this 20/20 comp? Asuming that each side has the same amount of players out!

I haven't been out to look at them, bit too far to drink/drive!

From guys that saw you knock off Lofty on friday they said that your guys looked pretty slick. Not much else, said that you moved it pretty well. Didn't say much else as they said the Devs looked pretty ordinary in some areas and they didn't want to go into it much!

If Onkas can get their head around doing what they are told they have themselves a very very good coach. You are right it is his way or the highway so will be interesting to see if he can get the feral out of the animal. Has the ability to get the best from kids. Quality bloke as well. Spade is a spade - quite possibly too good for onkas. Time will tell. Won't waste his time. Say goodbye to player egos.

Steve is a very hard but fair man.
Will expect a lot out of his players and as you said supercoach egos will be left behind.
It is his way or the highway, but if people can deal with that and adopt his strict discipline he will get the most out of his team.
Haha Muffler I think we both have the same memories from jnr cricket, as a 13yo he certainly scared me into never being late to training and if you had an issue you come and sort it out, not mum or dad! Learnt a lot from him even though he was very tough.

Your onto something there Jetters pretty well agree with what you said.
He has assistant coached out at South so will be a good coach for onkas if they respect his decisions

I'm not so sure the hard man coaching style washes with this current generation... time will tell I guess.

  Believe the local paper may be about to do a major investigative article on the rumours that a major HFL ground may not actually be considered by local government experts as being up to scratch for safe use over the coming season ... perhaps a continuation of problems encountered at the venue over a lengthy period of time?
