Did you see last weeks scores? Two wells were up by two goals late in the game but HWE switched up and won the game, would have thought they were challenged.

However This time last year Two Wells had won the first two games they had played and faced HWE in a top of the table clash, the game was pretty even for the 1st half till HWE just put the foot down, i'm sure The Pies will be prepared for it but the Eagles will look to flatten any oppsosition they suspect may play them in finals, should be a good game, but look for Arnold, Jericho and Higgs to kick a winning score, young Jericho just decided he wanted to win the game last week and did just that............can play!

I did see the scores and noted that TW lead at 3/4 time so no disrespect meant there Rooster. Can't disagree with anything you say. Presume you were at the game last week, did TW play well, HWE badly, combination of both or did the wind play a factor in the game remaining even. If my memory serves me correct the game you refer to last year was played at TW and wind played a huge factor in that match being very even. They do have a habit of crushing teams that they feel may be on the rise and your summation of Jericho is spot on - can play when HE wants to - very tempermental which is why he didn't make it in town.

You remember correctly, it was a factor but did not determine the outcome, as on saturday HWE are an experienced side full of good players who stand up when they need to and thats what makes them so good.

On saturday Two Wells played well, played them like all teams should play them and deny the Ryan reids and Joel wilsons the time and space to do too much damage, but it's not easy as there is more than just those two.

It is a super idea, should be more of it, they are however three teams merged into one so there is a lot of history there.

HWE Coach Jared Wilson is in the sportswear business and was probably responsible for making the Guernsey's. it certainly gives this weeks top of the table clash just that little bit more significance, if by any chance it needed it.

Could be a lot of different jumpers floating around if they decide to honour each of the respective teams history. What is Paul Kotsano up to these days?

Did anyone see the game up at Wakefield on Saturday, how did Mallala win that. Are they the real deal, or have hummocks got some excuses for loosing.I see they had a few out by the looks of the informer. Who played well?

i'm guessing the magpies played well, the writing was on the wall last week, but i would have thought the eagles would come out firing after being tested by the Roosters, No Jericho or Joel wilson hurts, but thats not giving Mallala credit. They must be the real deal and would be firming as favourites, but the Hummocks boys will be hurting and Balak are running through some good form. should be a good season.

Yeah they are big outs for the eagles. We heard that Joel Wilson will miss 7-8 weeks with a really bad corky that forced him to hospital last sat night. Eagles will really miss him early if thats the case! Any other news from other games i see Virg pushed Balak for 3 quartes until they kicked 9 in the last. Bluey McMillian did his usual, play well against the poor teams!

Went and saw the game. Got to say it wasn't a particularly pretty game but Mallala did what a good side should do and won a game they should have. Started very well and never gave HWE a look in - final score probably flattered HWE a bit and if it was played at Mallala would suggest Mallala would have won by substantially more. Small oval meant it was bottled up a lot. Will take some stopping on the big ovals.
Injuries to Joel Wilson, Jericho, Valentine, Barnes, Chivell and Nathan Young certainly didnt help HWE then lost Arnold in the first 15 mins. I think they were going that rough for numbers they had a couple of guys play A's and B's. Thought the red headed Montgomerie was very very gd and Reece Francis was on fire early kicking three in the first 1/4.

I think your underselling Mallala. Undefeated and a gd list to choose from against a side with some real quality out. Good teams should win those games and that it seems is what Mallala are this year. The only thing I would question is their lack of height but aside from that liked what I saw. Derek Barr has shifted to WA apparently so won't be playing this year.

the pies haven't had height since Thorney was playing three years ago, but what they do have is probably the Premier Midfield at present, with Hollitt, Earl and Whitty, and with francis giving them the key forward they have lacked for a few years, it seems they are on a good wicket.

The Rams pushed Balak? did they, was anyone at this game, i don't know if they really were but in any event does everyone think the league is getting better?

Their midfield is v.gd because of the 3 players you mentioned Rooster only 1 actually played there and that was Whitty. The other 2 are being kept out by the Montgomerie boys. Early played across 1/2 back all day (which suits him) and Hollitt played predominantly across 1/2 forward in unison with Francis.

I agree the league is at a good point at the minute - attracting gd players and most teams competitive.

I think the league isnt as strong as it used to be before the import was implemented in 1998, but each side has probadly a good 5-6 very good players, then falls away. Depth really kills a team in this comp, the teams that are usually there at the business end are the teams that have good depth, by that I mean 24-26 good players with the 22nd to 26th stepping up from B Grade.

Does anyone what to put some coin on Blood Nut Joel Montgomerie for the Mail Medal? This kid is a gem. Courage, pace, great overhead and below the knees can kick left and right foot. Apparently he won a mail medal playing at Streaky Bay when he was just 16, so he def gets the votes, and id have to say based on the first three weeks hed have 6-8 votes already. Big call i knw but ill stick to it, i saw this kid play in the 2s for port last year and he was great. I dunno why hes not still there. Though big Walker from balak seems to be getting a bit of early from under his belt again too.

i was told he didnt enjoy it at port, very big and unexpected pick up for mallala. your right, joel won a mail medal in the mid west league when he was 16. clubs will start paying alot more attention to him i dare say, although he should be use to it. he seems to have started off this year very well, may be on his way to winning a 2nd before he turns 20!

Bradman, Tim Trussell is currently not playing supposedly due to family commitments. By all accounts he's left the door open to play at some stage this year.

Think he's been at HWE for 4 years. The first 2 he was in and out of the A's but the last two years was a permanent A grader playing across half-back. Really gd contributor and was also gd at lightning the mood in the changerooms - funny fella Timmy.

Tim Trussel has retired and now runs water for the Eagles, so i'm guessing he is still involved with the club, just not as a player.
