Maybe this stance by the GSFL will also make some coaches accountable for the crap that they let go . I for one have never and will not tolerate undisciplined players and have played short to make an example of just that. The rest of team soon let the offending player know he is letting the group down . The player either pulls his head in or does not play . Simple really , however some coaches are pretty ordinary when it comes to matters like this and are there for themselves and would not know how to DEVELOP players which incidently is the role of the coach. If you want to be D#%@head in my side you wont last. Maybe I am a bit hard with this attitude but I can see a discipline shift in a side that I coached last year and I don't like it.

Tips-
Goolwa to register a win, 16 points.
Mt Compass to win the battle of the dairy cows, 24 points. (Bazz Clarke a chance after a run in with a skippy, toughening himself up he reckons).
VH to improve considerably on last week, 34 points.
Willunga, a bloody good unit, 28 points.
Yank, home ground should see them through, 9 points.

Good round of footy this week.

Yes 5 games that potentially could go either way

Goolwa v McLaren. Toss up but Mclaren to win for me
Myponga v Compass. Pongy's run to continue at home
Victor v Bays. Victor to react after last weeks hammering
Willunga v Creek. Big reversal from round one.
Yank v Strath. Really tough to pick this one. Stick with Yank at home.

Creeks backed up their 1st round 12 goal flogging of Willunga by defeating them again by the barest of margins 1 point in a thriller after coming from 4 goals down at 1/2 time.

Strath by 2 points ? over Yank.

As I tipped last night I knew I was playing a mugs game - ^^ at least that part was right!

Tough contest at Victor with the scoring following the wind and scores tied at half time. Victor had the aid of a decent breeze in the third but Bays did well to outscore them setting up a 7 point lead at 3/4 time and well placed to run away with the game in the last. Victor kicked the first major in the last but Bays settled and were battling on well. At about the 20 min mark Bays still held a slender lead and it looked like they would hold on, but then Victor came to life showing some excitement and passion with Parker snaffling a ball off the back of the pack from a boundary line throw-in and slotting it through then Ryan marked well and kicked a fantastic goal from 50 near the boundary to give Victor the lead. He then marked and kicked truly again to s(t)eal the game. WIth 5 goals in the first 3/4 then 5 in the last against the wind made for an entertaining match in testing conditions - typical tough contest for the local derby!

I only got yo see the last 1/4 Yank v Strath due to other commitments , geez that was a cracking 25 mins. Strath up by 21 points at the last change with Yank coming home with the breeze ( 2-3).

Both sides still running very hard at the end with Perry hitting the inside of the post on the run with 3 secs left on the clock.

What a great round of footy , it is going to be a very interesting next few weeks to see who and how the finals are going to be shaped.

Hey Limb, whats going on at the Creek?
Heard that Ben Potts announced his retirement after yesterdays win at Willunga.
Thats 2 in a week.
With the 'B's struggling to get a team week to week and lack of depth in the club atm, the 'A's can ill afford a run of injuries leading into the finals.
How many more retirements b4 u get the call up Limb?

Appears so, in my opinion it is wrong - but what club wouldnt to be honest. They have a real sniff this year in the 2's but are a long way off from having 2 strong grades, like Willunga & Strath (although reserves struggaling this year)

Well yes they can and where Victor is at will have a bearing on whether they do. Victor need to play up at the level they showed against Creeks more consistently to make the finals and have an effect when they get there.

3 in a row for Pongy will have their confidence up - and they have Goolwa then Victor in the next 2 games which will be very interesting.

I was waiting for it. Its actually quite the opposite. The b's are very unsettled trying to replace unavailable a grade players which is the priority at the moment. fielding an a grade side is and always will be the priority. When you have Hank, white, sam jones, dene Mckinlay and Mahney as well as some others with saturday work committments out of the a's who would you suggest replacing them with from the B's? No one has dropped back specifically, all players are tending to go the other way. Our b grade form has probably stood out a bit more to this year with the huge drop off of some of the clubs who previously had excellent depth

I just re read this and I don't know why I replied. Doesn't make sense?? Why would we send Doyle up (leading goal kicker for us the the 2's) and these others if we were stacking?

I'm glad you did LF - I was trying to see where hamish was coming from too. Only 4 blokes in your 2's side on Saturday have played more than 1 game of A's this year according to SP so (not really knowing the guys he has named) all I could see was perhaps you didnt put the best 4 up to replace injuries. So thanks for clarifying that.

A 2's flag is pretty hollow without an A grade flag too really, but Willunga are probably the only club likely to pull that off this year. You and McLaren obviously have better depth than the rest of the clubs. I've been struggling to understand how our B's can be going so badly. Had a big win on Sat finally - have the talent to be in the 5 easily IMO.

Fod on the right page again. Some of our better players in the reserves have been the likes of hirst, cross, stringer, Silvestri, kies, Dunbar etc etc. Good players but all are the other side of 30 and have had surgery in recent years snd bodies just not up for it. Players around the 18-23 bracket who have done full pre seasons like Thomas, elliot, Robertson and chesser are better options at this stage.

Admittedly there are few (and I reckon every club has them) who I believe should be striving harder for a grade but you get them and that's just the way it is. Don't think fox will play. Did train the house down early in the year though
