kappars the main drive behind trying to turn the club around is the guys on the recruiting committee who have been out and about signing deals since our season finished. Also Hayden Mc, Shane Fox, Sam jones, Darren Hoad, the hirst boys and a few others have been doing some fitness stuff down the club to keep the local boys on track.

Good to hear LF,recruiting committee sounds like it is working well for the saints. I like the way your recruiting a bit of youth and not expired has beens like the saints have done in the past.
Have you still got the same local core group as last season? What happened with last season did u boys have numbers?

Hmmm any truth to the rumour Alistair Lynch is currently living in Pt Pirie for work purposes and maybe stopping in to play every second game (atleast) at the Bay due to his connections with another Bay favourite... watch this space...

LF i have a few mates down there and a connection with a sponser similar to the connection I have with the Bays. Its good to see your self and the bays looking up.
I do remember hearing that injurys hurt you very bad last season too.

Lynch hey FM big name! You got a pillow for him at half time?
5 point player and every second week a old bloke like that driving 3 to 4 hours do you think he will be able to play a full game at 100%? If not is he worth those 5 points in your side? Why not get a someone in there mid 20's thats prime and ready to play week after week with minimum chance of breaking down? I am not taking anything away from him he is a AFL legend but is he what the bays need right now?

Yeah injuries weren't too flash I mean we had 2 broken jaws and 2 knee recons which isn't good. Thats why teams need 'Willunga' depth.

I totally agree with you LF. The successful teams were the ones who had good B Grade teams as they could easily cover injuries or underperforming players.

Didn't he retire at end of 04 GF, in which case presumably he'd be worth zero points, having not played for 3 years..

Would Lynch still have games to serve on his grand final suspension? This is a completely hypothetical topic.

I'm sure that if he was in the state Micky Conlan would be showing him a good time. Micky taught him a few things back in the Fitzroy days.

This is only for discussion sake, but...

Do the points add up on a game by game basis? Or does signing someone like Lynch go towards your points allocation for the year? If he was worth 5 points every time he played, you would be freeing up 5 points for another player in the games he doesnt play. So you could have a rotating team of point earning players that dont play as often and play fresh.

Some other leagues also reward teams by deducting 1 point for every under 18 in A grade team on match day. I hope this doesnt encourage teams to pick younger players with the intention of sitting them on the bench and playing more players worth points...

Each week teams submit a team sheet and if the player points added up to over the allocated amount punishment would occur. Whether it be loss of premiership points or fines or another way but im sure each team would be careful to not get it wrong.

I think juniors are worth 0 points so i can see sides playing a colt or 2 to free up a couple of points and if the kid is ready then play on. I fear that they will be throwing kids in there to keep the points down and basically play with 20 players!

The idea of rotating players is good and bad, do you still pay the players even when its there turn to sit out for the week? Do you rest players in form? Players inevitably need a rest but forced resting is not what its all about.
