Unfortunately for the lions and more importantly Aaron, this is true... will be a big loss for the lions

who do the lions look to now for on field leadership?

maybe they will look to the experienced david coombs for leadership

pacman, just wondering who is actually pulling the strings down there, it seems ur fitness coach is far more qualified to pull the strings. perhaps if this is the case the hierachy have made a big f*** up down there as he would be able to get a clearance to play if he was the coach.
and have also heard that wacka is only warming the the seat for one year until the return of a certain legendary favourite son. any truth to this and how does wacka feel about that?

Ben Walton would be a outstanding coach at this level and would have instant respect from the playing group. Craig is going to have to earn the respect of his cubs as a coach. Craig in his playing days reminded me very much of Brisbane Broncos 5/8 Darren Lockyer , he would lead with courage , brilliance and instruct his team mates where to position themselves around the ground.

At selection time Craig's Resume was the best on the table and his Blueprint to take the club to the top of the tree was oustanding.

Not sure Ben Walton would want the coaching job at Gawler Centrals , he is a Willaston boy. Who knows.

Peter Vivians return is definately on the cards if Craig doesnt breed success, its early stages of the Dawe coaching tenor, daysof. I expect the Gawler Central Tigers to come home with a wet sail once things all gel together, Craig is a smart cookie and wouldnt be laying all his cards on the table just yet.

JimmyDean... i would think it would be too hard to actually replace Bayliss...players of his quality dont just appear out of thin air. As you have stated south will probably look to its younger players to step up and take more responsibility in the midfield. Players such as Foster and Lay spring to mind...

Any relation to Paul Foster ?

Barossa V Tanunda was a great game to watch if you where a Tanunda supporter. Tanunda where completely ruthless right around the game and the skills from both sides where very good but Tanunda's defence would not give Barossa a sniff. Barossa certainly played well in a good tough fair game with Ross Christie in the ruck a real highlight for them, makes you wonder why he did not play there last season?

I'm biased but after the 2 games that I have seen Tanunda actually look better than last season.

There is without saying Tanunda will get the flag this year. They played a great game on a flooded oval. Barossa's team from last year has a lot of holes in it. Barossa as a finals team is a long shot. To many first time A grade palyers. This will test the coach (Nelson) to see what he can get out of the team. We will be able to see if he is a coach or not.

Dale Thatcher goes well, pretty hard, probably the best tackler in the club. Used to be able to run like the wind, hurt an ankle a couple of years ago and has slowed down. Plays inside a lot more now. Last week he had to miss coz he was playing for the air force in a carnival in Melbourne. How do you know him?

Played with him last week and was just wondering how he stacks up in the comp. Good front and centre player who knows how to find the football. Would be very handy if a little fitter

No Mercy,
some people play for more that just piggybacking on a likely premiership contender. Freeling will get there in time and when they do it wont be any flash in the pan. Eichners a quality person and Im pretty sure he enjoyed his night at the club with over 200 people on the weekend, unlike some clubs around who could host all their members in a phone box. When you got something of real quality to say, speak up, but I reckon I might be waiting a while

A very juicy round coming up people. Will start to sort out just where some of these teams really are.
The Willaston boys are very chirpy after their win in the wet against Kapunda - one bloke reckons they will knock off Tanunda this weekend!
Can Nuriootpa push Barossa at Williamstown? Might depend on how wet it is. Looks like Nuri had trouble at Angaston Oval.
Freeling travel up to Angaston and will have a lot of trouble of their own getting a win there.
Match of the round Gawler Central v South Gawler. Very tough to pick. GC surprised by Nuri, then beat an ordinary Freeling. South also fixed up Freeling then had the bye. Dead set coin toss!

No surprises over the weekend then...

this week:

Tanunda to beat Willaston by 10+ goal
Angaston to beat Freeling by about the same
South to beat Centrals in a tight one
Nuri to beat Barossa by 4-5goals...

Hey No Mercy,
dead set mate, what tree did you swing out of ? You didnt even look at who posted that last message, and your throwing insults around, like I said, I think I'll be waiting a while to hear something quality out of your posts, already gone to insults ! ;)
I reckon iron Mike would have more brain cells than you, even after a 100 fights.

Spot on Drifter Iron Mike would have a lot more brain cells than No Mercy. Freeling are going the struggle for the first half of the season but I predict that they will start to win some games once all the boys get off their tractors and get fit.

Looks like the Blockie juggernaut roles on, I would think that the Willaston boys that are confident this week may get a rather large shock. Interesting to see how the next few weeks pan out, very interested to see where Ango and Nuri will be sitting.

There is no way the inner sanctum of Willaston consider themselves alongside the might of Tanunda after playing one game against an ageing Kapunda list, they would be looking forward to the challenge but i seriously doubt they would be too concerned about what the scoreboard shows against the Wine Barrons in Round 3.

All reports so far indicate that Tan could end up setting a record of consecutive wins this year. Does anyone know what the BLG record for consecutive A grade wins is..?

Willaston to win
Nurioopta to beat Barossa
Angaston to get 2 in a row
Gawler Central to get over South in the local derby
