Sorry to dampen your enthusiasm but incentive based payments don't work! Sure the players you have put in and try really hard but unless you have 5 or 6 quality footballers, who command around $600 - $700, you will lose most games. Sad, but a fact of life!

wow good news for the comp if true :roll: but is this sort of money boardering on totally ridiculous ? wouldnt be many clubs left if they were forking out this sort of cash .. Have herd word around the hills is that loftys spending sprees on players is a thing of the past as well :o :o This has to give somewhere and it will eventually send some clubs to the wall unless they are well managed . :(

TWE - do you mean that you've heard that Lofty aren't spending, or that they were the only ones paying good $$? I think you'll find that mid 2000's a bit was forked out to finally get some players in but this continually gets blown out of proportion because it had been so long since the Devs had done this.
Not that the eagleton rubbish has any cred, but Uris do still have $$. I spoke to one of the cricket lads and they reckon the 'footy' club are rolling in it. The cabbage was not touched by the GFC.

Clearances don’t become official until early next near.

Hear a rumour that Blackwood has signed a leading goal-kicker from the Greater-Southern Football League and a key player from Sturt who played in last years final series.

gidday jq i have just heard in my travels around the hills on a saturday arvo over the last few weeks that the purse strings at goat park are very tight at the moment ... does this relate back to the era you were speaking of or has the gfc hit the devs hard in terms of sponsership im not quite sure ? was more making the point that with the money some clubs are spending (not nessesarly lofty ). How long can this be sustained ? For thoughs of us that really enjoy country footy will it be there in 10 years time or is it going to be a case of the rich get richer and the poor get poorer eg. english premier league soccer ??? Food for thought !!!

Different topic away from all the rumours;

Who is the best player at your club and why?
And name one player from another club who you would wantin your side and why?

I believe our best is Nunan. Versatile, team player and dominates opponents time and time again.
From another club, Ricky Ebert, coming off half back with his skills, awesome!

I understand Darren Jarman is/was coach of CBOC but I also heard his name mentioned with Torrens Valley.

I'd say Kriegy is the most important player in our team but Magoo and Owen Cannon would be the best two.
And I'd like Nunan in our team... never have I felt so dominated by a single player before!

i would think the best player at Ironbank would be Brad Yeomans but prob the most important and versitle is C . Smith forward or back kpp and even could pinch hit in the midfield if required , player i would grab first from any hills central side for Ironbank would be .... wait for it ....... I think its downs the ruckman from uris ??? as that is what we need a big dominant bloke ... that said would have nunan an day of the week as well always seems to play well against us :twisted: :twisted:

The best player in the comp is Simon 'Kenny' Simon McCormick from Blackwood, followed by Nunan and then Yeomans.
On the subject of big men, he may not play in the competition now, but that the ruckman that use to play for Mt. Lofty, Andrew Bawden, was by far the best ruckman I have seen in the comp.

Dundovic and Wark both came up through Blackwood Juniors before continuing their careers in other competitions. Will be good to have them back on the books.
