Im not saying that these players coming into A grade are as good as the ones leaving, but surely they couldnt be too bad.
In my opinion, never right off any team 6 months away from the start of the season.
There is alot of recruiting still to be done, and with massive names leaving, surely will leave the devils with some cash to spend on replacements, if needed.

Can't believe lofty won the b grade flag in the hills comp this year. Saw them in a trial game v strath this year and they were very slow and unfit. I know it was a trial game but asked a few players if it was there best team and they said yes. You guys would struggle to make the top 4 in great southern, clearly a faster cleaner comp. Wouldn't rely on the reserves to help there a grade if players are leaving. Hope you've got good snr colts?

Hah I can assure you that about 12-15 blokes who played in the flag didn't play in that trial match. So I wouldn't read much into that.

Played jr footy with 2 of the four, one is a gun...will dominate on the big dry decks up there, very quick and can play pretty much anywhere! ...the other one is as strong as an ox..played most of his footy at lofty in the back 6! In my opinion will strugle on a big dry oval! the other two are recruits, one is a 60+ goal forward, who turned CHB man this season to fill a gap at lofty! still has good footy left, and the other one is an on baller who would love to hear hes worth cash money.. trailing on the coat tails of others!!

lets be honest though here....$800 plus petrol money....i would be there so quick my first 3 match payments would be paying speeding fines!!

Good luck to them...

Im not sure if i believe these rumors kicking round. the amounts seem ridiculous and vary from 350 - 800 dollars... in my day you were happy to have a beer bought for you after the game.

but on the other hand big loss to lofty if they are true..

a little from what i know about the players.
Nathan Peterson is a great player (probably should have been drafted a few years ago) and huge engine will love it up there on the dry decks, seeing the lofty results and a few games kicks a lot of goals when he changes forward or as an onballer. hard to match up on..
Ben Gordon another great player great goal sense, and beautiful kick for goals, can kick them from anywhere and seems the tougher the kick the easier he makes it look, big strong mark im surprised that Lofty played him in the back lines this year as from what i saw a few years ago he was a great FF/ CHF
Jared mcdonald one of those players that gets a lot of hard ball gets and in and under every contest does alot of tough nitty gritty work to get the ball to his runners, probabaly some of the most creative hands in pack situations i have seen in hills footy, also a bit like nathan kicks goals when he is onball or changing forward
DK stevens a tough backman and a huge frame, not blessed with the greatest skills but his heart and determination makes him one of the hardest players going around, i know i would have hated to play on him as a forward, you would be in for a tough day

Thanks kickittome, I see your research is impeccable ie a trial game vs Strath reflects how good the HFL is. Lofty did not roll out their best team that day and got better as the season rolled on, after losing their first 2 games. SOME reserves will help but until all these 'departures' happen it's impossible to tell how difficult it'll be for the Devs. Mind you, expectations may have been lower than the third place finish before this season started. Across the board, I believe the HFL is definitely a quick, clean comp. With the drier winters (before this season) the standard lifted and top 5/6 clashes are a good view.

Heard the rumours out of Bridgewater are quite true. No appointed coach and players leaving. A lot of uncertainty and instability surrounding the club.

Interesting who do you think will leave as the boys are all pretty happy from what I hear. Good luck to Shane at Imps though but I dont think we will lose anyone.

Pretty sure you'll find the Lofty B's at the begining of the year was a vastly different team at the end; pretty sure they'd clean up great southern. Problem with lofty B's majority of them probably could play A's but they're a bit lazy, have short preseason's, lots of excusses, don't hit the gym etc, which ultimately makes them b graders. Yeah there are some pretty good colts coming through that could play A's but no bigger bodies which need to be found (that i can remember). The success of the A's next year will hinge on the top half a dozen b graders really stepping up, dropping a few kg's (maybe puting a few of the right ones on) and getting a bit more serious, and i can't see why that can't happen...

Have heard the same and apparently club will let everyone know today! Apparently played at south and was doing a coaching role at the parade! Well, that's what he told the club.
