I heard that Blackwood have threatened to withdraw their colts teams from the finals, and also withdraw from the HFL effective immediately unless their B Grade is re-instated.

Who cares - nobody wants to play at Blackwood.

Plus, a senior colts GF featuring Mt Lofty and Ironbank would be far more entertaining being played between traditional rivals.

Haven't heard that, but they're taking it further than the HFL...
Them dropping out isn't a threat.

The league had given permission to some players, because A's and B's played on the same day.
Looks like Blackwood have a fair case.

My understanding is that Blackwood was within its rights to play players that had been dropped from Hills Central A's to the B Grade. The problem was that they also played Country A Grade players that hadn't played enough Central games to qualify.

Will be an interesting diversion from everyone else leading up to the GF!

Big Owen will sort them out!

The world works in strange ways ... but it can be great ... go you Uri boys, back in business .. we all know it's about playing by the rules, so what's the go Blackwood? Guess we will hurriedly have to get the B-grade squad back together ... even after Mad Monday! Gee it will give Runt the chance to notch his 250th ... he was chaired off last Sunday, probably thinking he would close his career on 249. Interesting the comment about Uraidla whinging ... the point of Blackwood having guys out there who weren't supposed to be was actually first raised by some Mt Barker connections I believe, who were there watchin'. So apparently just on a piece of advice, it was followed up. What do you mean by further action ... do we have court injunctions! It's only a game, and as I said, if you can't play by the rules, don't play at all ... at least in our league!

From what i heard the trouble with blackwood was that because country div is seen as their B grade and central B grade as their 3rd team then the rules must be that a player dropping down from central A's should go to the B grade (effectively country A's). this means smith and co. dropped from A's should go to country A's but instead went to the 3rds dropping down 2 grades which is not allowed. i say take blackwoods threat nobody likes them anyway and we would be happy to rid their colts sides from the finals. good luck with the president trying to tell the boys they arent playing in a grand final bcoz he says so.

what a pathetic threat, if blackwood is willing to make 21 or so u17s miss out on playing a grand final because of this, then get ready all the other clubs we may be able to pick up some talented youngsters for next year. i know i would leave the club if they pulled me and my team mates out of a grand final all because they were caught cheating.

assuming they dont get reinstated, G.D how have the uri bs gone against barker this year. could it be lofty, uris in a's and b's. judging by what ive seen id back barker to finish off whoever they play this week??

have a listen to all of you. first of all, what is the source that said blackwood would pull their colts from the finals, and the comp for that matter. also, i do know that blackwood have been talking about going to the amatuer league all year. so it would not be a hasty or rushed decision.
AND, you all dislike blackwood. of course they all love you......duh.
who else dont you like?

oh, and for the record, no i dont play for blackwood and are not involved with them in any way.

The Latest.....

Postby Winger » Thu Sep 14, 2006 10:47 pm

So did anyone hear all this being talked about on 5AA KG and Cornesy. Apparently Blackwood president was on there. KG was saying we're gonna have 3 teams line up on saturday haha.

Ah this is how it went down.... Blackwood sought permision to play some players who were ineligible but due to a by-law in the rules they could play in the B's due to the A's still playing in the finals. They sought permission from Owen Lamshed and he, along with another member of the Permit Committee, signed an agreement to le them play. The permit committee then met on Tuesday and decided that because the rest of the committee wasn't consulted the result can't stand.

So Blackwood are taking this to court on Friday with the hope of still playing on Saturday. What An Absolute Farce!!

No matter what the result, this is a joke.

this will be very interesting. the sh1t will hit the fan from one direction. and i'm guesing it will be blackwoods. i'm tipping this will give dave benson a good reason to go the amatuers. everyone will say good riddance. bit sad really.
hey footballer, i reckon if i lined up on you, we wouldnt like each other. but it would be an interesting contest.

Basically the real owen has stuffed up.
He signed a letter saying a few players could play (Bensch and Smith plus a couple of others) on Sunday in the B grade if they weren't picked in the A grade. A protest then was lodged and the permits committee ruled for the protest and awarded the game to Uraidla. B/wood asked for an appeal but I understand this was rejected. Believe a legal letter went out yesterday to the HFL to resolve the matter and if not they may take it to court. It may cost the HFL some legal fees today.

wishiwas, the source I heard was a Blackwood B grader who actually played on the weekend. He was heard discussing the possible outcomes in the Blackwood Gym on Wednesday morning.

I never said "this is what is happening" I just floated an idea that had been discussed by the Blackwood player.

You saying "have a listen to all of you" is a bit outrageous....this is a forum on HFL to discuss what's going on. Some things brought up will be crap, others will be accurate. I think everyone has a right to vent their spleen on the matter - you are entitled to have your say, and everyone else should. I reckon its great to be able to hear everone's take on the matter even if you don't agree with their point of view.
