Seems the festival didn't have the adverse effects on nuri as some people first thought and all the fluff about Gawler Centrals was blown away yesterday with Nuri over running them for a good away win.

Staffords run from behind style of play has not changed and teams that come up against them would want to have a done some work on the forward defensive pressure side of their game over the summer because they over ran centrals in the last quarter who were supposed to be fitter and stronger this year than they were last year.

I thought Freelings problems were solvered with the signing of Eichner?
Looks like another long year ahead for them once again.

im going with. after seeing all games on the weekend new tips for season are:
1 tanunda-cant go past them, minimal changes
2 angaston- provided the older players stay on the park as they have minimal depth 2.nuri
3 gawler central- should finish 2nd or 3rd but could also miss the 4 3. willaston
4 willaston- will be alot better than most people think, goals will have to come from midfield 4.gawler central
5 nuri-stafford back so expect improvement here, but maybe a year away from finals 5.angaston
6 south gawler-herzick, enough said 6. barossa districts
7 freeling- should improve on last year, late addition of eichner maybe emough to lift them off the bottom 7. south gawler
8 kapunda- pretty unknown dont know much about them but should have enough quality to keep barossa at bay8. freeling
9 barossa districts- unfortunately its back to the old days for the bulldogs, the well is dry. 9. kapunda

schluter medal- chad norsworhy
goals- scott hahn only cos kennedy would be due to miss a couple through injury

angaston ok today for 3 quarters despite going down by 13 goal, just didnt have an avenue to goal, need tha great man toronto back real soon to bolster them in this area!

agree with that call, played with injury last year, all fixed now, he will dominate i rekon!
Played with Injuries??? Why to pick his pay packet up??
Silly to play with injuries but will def agree is a very good player. Don't agree he would play with injuries though... Heath Commane to win Goal kicking and will close to Schluter medal aswell.. He is a gun!!!!

Tanunda

South Gawler*
Barossa

Kapunda

Willaston
Angaston
Freeling

*South are the hard one here, with the inclusion of 1 or 2 more quality players they could move up the ladder, yet they are prone to self implode during the year. Nuri may also improve a little more than I have accounted for here, but they cant afford to lose any players, infact they probably need to add to their list.

Schluter / Mail Medal: M Greenwood, had a slow start to the year this year and still came equal third, if is fit and firing come round one next year expect to see him place his second medal around his neck.

So Nuri aren't quite good enough to break into the finals this year? i thought they had some handy recruits?

BB, That prediction was made a while ago, and I did make the statement at that time that Nuri had room to go forward, as I have highlighted....

Not sure if Kapunda will be as strong as last year, so Nuri may easily go past them... Im hearing good things from Ango, but I want to see results before I go pumping their tyres, yes they have complimented their midfield, but still no Key Position Players that I am aware of, so unless they are going to kick a winning score from their midfield every week (which is extremely hard to do), they still may struggle to beat the good sides, therefore 4th would be the best result I could see for them...

Still happy to Have Tanunda on top, and Centrals comfortably in the top 4, but I thought they would have added more to their squad than what I am hearing...

I think I will happily mark Kapunda, Freeling and Williston as not being able to make the four, and leave 6 side to battle for four positions....

Still sticking with Greenwood as my medal winner...

I wonder if a few ladder predictions will change after the weekends results...

Had a look at the Angaston v Tanunda game yesterday. The score didn’t reflect the standard of the pummelling. Tanunda's forward line proved to have to many avenues to goal and was unmatched by the panthers lightweight forward line. The panthers had as much forward thrust, but like many teams didn't have the Brittons, Kennedys and Agars of the world as forward marking targets, only Pech really proving an avenue. The midfield contests were a highlight, albeit having to read the Wells ruck taps and the rebounding forward entries, under the circumstances break even.
Tanunda would appear to be at full strength, only significant player out was Kieboom.

Eichner played a solid game, was 3rd best for Freeling. In response to someone elses post today, I dont remember anyone saying that Eichner would be the answer to everything ! Freeling have a young side with plenty of upside, there are still a couple of pieces missing to the puzzle, but nobody said they were going to be worldbeaters. Will have good days and bad days. Freeling probably butchered 5 easy shots at goal, and South snaffled 5 tough ones. Take that out of it and its a lot closer. Freeling need to make the most of their opportunities. South were pretty tall up front. If they keep their heads right they will be around the mark.

Maybe your right, im sure the op he had over the summer was for no reason? obviously it wasnt enough to stop him playing and contributing but was just a little restrictive thats all. Either way we agree the lads a gun alright!

I see a clearance to Kapunda has been put in by Port Magpies reserves defender, Todd Hughes. Probably not a bad move; Kapunda are gonna need as much help as possible in defence this year.

6'2, looks a pretty solid build, plays half back flank I believe but could probably hold down a key position in the BL&G. Kapunda may even get him to ruck as they're short of ruckmen.
