And perhaps you could clarify the Gimps question about Angaston adertising for a new coach, I must have missed that one in the paper. In your defence some clubs under their constitution have to advertise each year, I'm not too sure whether you guys are coverd by that rule, please clarify.

F Hahn, Kennedy, Thomas
H.F B.Taylor (Kap), Commane, Leske
C Pech, B. Taylor (GC), M. Underwood
H.B Gibson, Christie, P.Stelzer
B Sharp, Valentine, Prior

1st Wells, Newberry, M Stelzer

Int Cragg Sapsford, Schiller, S.Baker or C.McLean

Obviously some very good players to miss out like S.Agars, Bayliss (don't really know him and have not seen him play) and plenty more.

Skip

Skip - yep the club is seeking expresions of interest, the constitution does require the club to advertise every 2 years. Unless there is a gun application I would be suprised if SJ was replaced.

F Hahn, Kennedy, Thomas
H.F Brady, Commane, B Taylor (GC)
C Mclean, Harvey, Bayliss
H.B Sharp, Christie, S Baker
B Gibson, Valentine, Leske

1st Wells, Newberry, M Stelzer

Int Cragg Sapsford, Schiller, Pech, Cussadia
Mclean to win the medal in a landslide.

Sunbowler, thought you were better than that. The coach of the BLG Team of the Year should always be the premiership coach and they should wait until after the grand final to give them the medallion for that.
And how anyone can say Craig Harvey is the best centreman in the comp this year has me beat!
Could count half a dozen players before Harvey atleast.
Tanunda should have a heap in the side. Most deserved.

JD like Bag & Sledge I'm not into your side, Harvey at centre is a joke when there are guys like Newberry, Brad Taylor (GC) and the Stelzers getting around. Mine would look similar to Bag & Sledge's but I really don't know enough about some of the players around to have a real crack and to be fair.

Interesting times at Willaston by the sounds, what will come of the McLeans & Baker boys?

It's not my side skip, but mine would have Harvey in the pivot also. For you to slam a player as not being good enough, then admit you don't know enough about the alteratives seems pretty poor, you might be holding a grudge over your perception from the tanunda game???
ps, neither the Stelzer's or Taylor play centre!
opinions are like armpits, everyone has them & everyone else's stink!

Maybe Hafey is Mike Brien ?????????????
That would answer a lot of questions
Also answer is hatred of people and teams in this leauge
But i guess you can't blame him for it, living in his brothers shadow all these years

Thanks for that Duke, sides differ slightly but lets face it both sides would probably flog any rival associations. I thought that was Ango's policy to advertise each year, I can remember this happening while Ollie was there and people asking questions then.

Interesting comments on the Willaston V GC game in the media, sounds as though only one side was going the ball.

Don Brook , any truth in the rumour John Abbott is being interviewed as a possible coach for 2009 at Willaston ?

I know John played alot of football at Central Districts but i am told he was a Willaston junior . He has also done some work with Roger conditioning our boys at Pt District this season.
What i dont know about football isnt worth knowing .

Playing a hundred odd league games with Central Districts indicates he may have something to bring to the table. If he coached the way he played i would envisage he wouldnt take any backward steps and wouldnt put up with any crap.

can you provide us with any info B&S ?

O'Connor has the best record at the club- Willaston need an outsider that knows no players to take over.
Would be a risk by Willaston... Another tried past player, John Abbott, Darrin Wilson and Matt Gibbins.
2008- Darrin Wilson (7th)
2007- Darrin Wilson (4th)
2006- Darrin Wilson (8th)
2005- Matt Gibbins (8th)
2004- Steve O'Connor (4th-Lost first semi final)
2003- Steve O'Connor (Minor Premiers- Lost Grand Final)
2002- Steve O'Connor (5th)
2001- Steve Carr (5th)
2000- Mark Norsworthy (5th)
1999- Mark Norsworthy (Premiers)

You have done your homework B&S , thanks for the insight. Hasnt been alot of success since Norsworthy.

Why would Willaston replace Oconnor with Matt Gibbins ?

I would be happy with that if that was criteria every year, but then of course they couldn't announce it at the medal count. 'Coach of the Year' and 'Coach of the Team of the Year' are two different things although some see them as the same. Latter should always be premiership coach!! However there are some who won't celebrate the success of others under any circumstance as we have seen in recent past. Perhaps Coach of the Season should be one award across all grades. My vote for 2008 for that would be Matt Herrmann.
Can't see where I have said that Craig Harvey is best centreman, but I can't believe that he couldn't make the midfield rotation in all teams. Shawn Gibson has probably been selected at centre more times than any other this year yet everyone puts him in backlines??
Is team of year, best 22 thrown into a lineup, or best in each 18 positions + 4 reserves, or best structured lineup or biggest 22 names to keep as many possible happy???? At end of day isn't the premiership 21 the best team of the year!! One thing it does do of course is keep many of us interested!

Billy Wells has shown plenty of potential during previous sessions and has finally delivered, and in my opinion his centre square work is complemented by his field play, probably the best in the comp. Unfortunately for the other 8 teams in the BLG it won't be the last they see of him for many years. Skip, I couldn't agree with you more when it comes to club loyalty, let's hope he polls well in the medal count. Might miss out on votes, as the Sunbowler mentioned he has plenty of good players to steal votes and he can be quite vocal on the field. Then again I haven't heard anyone more vocal than Shaun Baker and he won the medal last year. Footy trivia: Billy would be the 5th ruckman in 10 years to win the medal. The last ruckman to win the medal who wasn't being paid to play and has stuck with his club all his life was Nick Reimann, Ang-99. (I'm taking a punt on the $$$ though as Ang traditionally don't spend alot on players let alone locals, not sure if the same can be said for other clubs based on some of the comments previously posted on his forum.)

I far as i know we haven't spoke to Abbott. The next coach needs to be a strong coach who can handle the egos within our group at the minute. Hafey do you think Abbott fits the bill. To coach a BLG side without coaching before I would think is a big ask. I see on another posting asking why O'Connor left us, we all wish both Occer and Nelson never left.

Hope Billy Wells doesn't win the medal,

Don Brook why don't you want Billy Wells to win the medal? At least he is loyal to the league and his club and doesn't get paid. Says a lot for the man who could probably get $500 a game in other leagues since good ruckman are as rare as hen's teath.
