Yep. Interesting to see if the body holds up. Hasnt played for quite some time.
Is matt Ritter still down there? Heard he got injured early last year and then disappeared.

Quite an emu connection at Myponga, with Tom Carrol and Paul Eriksson going there this year, that will make 7 ex Morphett Vale players (for memory I think there was 5 last year) plus the coach. Haven't heard what Matt Ritter is doing.

I would've thought some research into who you are recruiting and paying sign on fee's to would be paramount prior to recruiting though?

Of the recruits brought into the side have Myponga pilfered 7 or more from any other club? You can't deny the Emu's have been targeted.

Gaskin - 35 this year still a very good player
Howell - Young and a very good player
Carroll - Gun
Only 3 worth their salt

Ritter - has a tendancy to go missing which is exactly what he did last year, will be inetersting to see how much time he spends around the club this year?
Sloan - C grade at Emu's
Eriksson - on his 2nd reco, will be inetersting to see how his rehab has gone this time around, if OK first season in around 3-4 years.
Brown - was an U/18 at MV who wouldve struggled to make the best B grade side.

So all in all not an outsatnding recruiting drive i wouldnt have thought?

Ritter to McLaren Vale?

Maybe utter BS, but was a rumour I heard on the grapevine a few months ago.

Sloan - C grade at Emu's = 0 points. Wasn't playing footy, asked him if he wanted a kick. Joined mid year
Eriksson - on his 2nd reco, will be inetersting to see how his rehab has gone this time around, if OK first season in around 3-4 years. = 0 points, former premiership player?
Brown - was an U/18 at MV who wouldve struggled to make the best B grade side. Knows a few pongy boys from South juniors - came out for a kick, didn't play much = 0 points

So all in all not an outsatnding recruiting drive i wouldnt have thought?

It's nothing against Morphies, we were lucky enough to recruit a couple, they enjoyed it & more followed. Apart from Howelly & Ritter, most of them had a season off or away from the Emus before joining us.

Ritter - has a tendancy to go missing which is exactly what he did last year, will be inetersting to see how much time he spends around the club this year? Has bone floating in his ankle. Most likely will require surgery. (Sounds like Ritts)
Sloan - C grade at Emu's = 0 points. Wasn't playing footy, asked him if he wanted a kick. Joined mid year (For reasonable $$$'s)
Eriksson - on his 2nd reco, will be inetersting to see how his rehab has gone this time around, if OK first season in around 3-4 years. = 0 points, former premiership player? (2010 didn't play, 2009 did knee round 2ish, 2008 played half a year (??), now offered decent $$$'s and a good sign on)
Brown - was an U/18 at MV who wouldve struggled to make the best B grade side. Knows a few pongy boys from South juniors - came out for a kick, didn't play much = 0 points

Responses above, not sure if you have missed my point, yes the MV connection is there however i am certain there is plenty more/better players available to recruit than these players mentioned above, with the league connection i would've thought some bigger names would've been atrtracted by now instead of players with a bit of a history, it will take plenty more than recruiting 0 pointers to make Myponga comeptitive.

As for your recruits enjoying the year they had and others following it will be very interesting to see how many remain in 2012, the cream of your MV recruits are good quality blokes and would'nt leave after 1 season, however 2012 will be a different story!

Dont believe he has kicked a ball in a few years. Think his last game was when he had his jaw dislodged Tony Lockett / Peter Cavan style playing for Noarlunga. I thought if he was going to have a kick again it was going to be at the $hoes. Not sure how the point system works but considering his layoff might be 0 point player which might have given him some bargaining power at the brokers table..??

Huddo hasn't been playing for a few years since he had his jaw badly broken from a brett miegel bump in a night game noarlunga v marion in about 2007.

wasn't sure he was actually supposed to be playing ; well that's at least what he told me more than once.
was a brilliant junior, played in 2 junior flags with him, but been enjoying his retirement one could say. be interesting to see how fair dinkum he is and if he gets himself fit. if he does you'd think he'd have some sort of impact

PS hardly tony lockett/ peter cavan style lol
miegs is 5'1 and 50kg's!

Nah i understood Snapper but i don't think you understood where i'm coming from. We did speak to bigger names as you suggested but we cannot compete with the $$ that were thrown at them & cannot blame them for taking it, makes day to day living a whole lot easier. We believe we have recruited good people & players to fill the needs of what we require. Yes some have been out for a few seasons but only time & results will tell if we were right. We will build a side that has depth & hopefully can compete with the top 5 this season. As for players hanging around, well thats out of our hands to a degree but we will continue to make it an enjoyable club to be apart of in 2011.

Has Zac Ewer left Goolwa? I heard he recently had a meeting with a River Murray team.

How good is Dundovic? Game-breaker or good A grader or just A grader?

From what I've seen he's a very good A grader, takes a good mark and is a reliable goal kicker.
Not too sure if he's a game breaker or not as I've only seen him play 2-3 times last year.
