The word around is that Owen accidentally let slip who won the A grade mail medal on the radio on the weekend. Can anyone confirm this?

Holy Crap!! Good Luck with that one...

Place was a hell hole the other week and with lots of rain expected this week you'll be in strife.

Would love to see photos.

That'll favour Mt Barker in the A's I would have thought.
Given what their patch looks like in a good year.

Loby oval is going to be fine. Hasn't been used in 2 weeks and only looked bad the other week because it had, had football on it 3 weeks in a row during the bad weather. There were 2 super rules games 2nd to last minor round game and then 5 games last round.

People are very critical of all the ovals at the moment which is a bit rich considering its been the wettest August in 18 years!! All you precious spectators and footballers obviously are too used to playing under the roof at Etihad and forget that this is a winter sport. This sounds like the Adelaide oval debate all over again!!

I think you will find trooper that people are being critical for there is other alternative grounds which can be played on & are in pretty good nick, yet these grounds are being overlooked...

Balhannah is free this week! Why not use it Saturday? In saying that Lobey has probably recovered by now. Blackwood oval was pretty ordinary but we still had an exceptional contest for both players and spectators. Everyone I spoke to said it was the most amazing game they have seen for a long time so perhaps we are all being a tad precious about surfaces, including me!

Clearly they're leaving Balhannah and Hahndorf for the prelim and GF...
and yes i did here Owen on the radio telling the listeners the Simon MacCormack for Balckwood has won the Div 1 medal and Ben Gunning for Torrens Valley has won the Div 2.
Thought that was interesting!

Ok so the Roos have Uri this week. I think this is to be a grand final preview! I can not see Woods or Lofty getting over the loser of this game. Hopefully Roos progress through and Woods get through this week too! And medal count Wednesday night, my prediction is McCormick for the win, with Fisher runner-up. Think McCormick will poll about 24 votes!

Lobey will not have recovered in 2 weeks during a wet period. By the time A grade start it will not be pretty if the rain forecast eventuates. But under the current rules there isn't any other option if we are leaving Balhannah and Hahndorf for Prelim and GF. Should be good games on those surfaces by then.

HFL should have the power to ask clubs to host these games at better venues ie Callington. Atleast the clubs get the $$$ and we see decent footy. I can only speak for the crowd at Birdwood on weekend but it was disappointing I thought. Watching those games doesn't encourage half hearted supporters to make the effort. Lucky Mt Barker boys turned up to prop up the crowd numbers!

I think the problem is that Country has the same issues with ovals this year.
The Prelim is back to Callington for their second final for 2010.

I am not sure how involved with your club you are but that would be a nightmare. To force a club to move from their home ground and host a final at an oval they know nothing about is just ridiculous unless it was a close neighbouring town.

I'm not sure how involved with HFL YOU ARE but no teams host finals (in the A grade at least), they're played at neutral venues. Pal

think you're missing the point 2jox... teams still 'host' finals when the game is played at their ground, even though there A grade aren't playing in it. Joe is making the point that hosting a final away from your own facilities would be really tough.... has nothing to do with what particular teams are playing that day. Pal.

If the final was moved to say Callington, Lobethal (or any other club) wouldn't be hosting it. Callington would be hosting it.

Not sure why we're even talking about it though really. It aint gonna happen.

Eveyone just needs to man up and accept that it might be a bit soft underfoot this week. We play in the hills remember. Where it rains. And groungs get muddy.

All 36 players have to deal with it. Whoever makes the best of it will win.

Bit of HTFU is required.
