whatever mate look at the victor premierships in the 90 s, they were bought not earned .

Get real johny - bays managed to win one in the 90s too....I guess they didnt pay anyone though did they!?!? ](*,)
i think if u have a look at the 96 bays premiership they had 90 % locals playing . good effort considering victor had half glenelgs team playing for them

Champ if you think you can 'buy' 8 out of 10 premierships and not work frigg'n hard on and off the field you've clearly never won one........and i can see why your frustrated

no such thing as a bought premiership.

Still takes 22 comitted lads to stick together for a year.

If all paid or one paid still a mighty effort.

Whilst the comments were about paying rather than local/imports.....anyway yes bays had a good localish side - to be 90% locals would mean out of 20 premiership players only 2 were "imports". That'd be Mansell and 1 other - Sound right? Not familiar with all of the team myself, but pretty sure there were more than that?

Yes Victor had a great connection with Glenelg (much of which happened as mates wanted to play on with their mates), but the urban myths seem to get in the way of the facts more as time goes on. Whilst there were a few names, over 10 years they spread quite a bit. With 160 premiership medals handed out to 67 players over 10 years, 25 of those medals went to players with a Glenelg links - 15%. Significant - well yes, but not as many as people seem to bs about.

Yes we had other "imports" over the years too. Some of the crap/abuse/rumours I heard about myself and teammates over the years was amazing - all it did was galvanize us as a group. We trained harder, played harder and partied harder - I'm sure the Willunga boys have done the same.

At the end of the day a flag is a flag, full of locals, full of recruits. If most clubs sat back & waited for a group of locals to come through to win a flag, they'd be waiting a long time. The results over the last 20 years speak for themselves. Don't recruit, your chances are slim.

Any truth to the rumor that the creeks have trumped Onkas bid for the Ellis boys?

Victor had their first hitout today, not a massive showing about 25 to 30. No easing into it though, Simmo had them doing a fair bit of work. Dennis Iljescen has put on a few kilos and looking super fit, hopefully should have a big year

Dont know if it was the points system or not, but willungas' run of 6 succesive premierships came to an end which isn't such a bad thing.

Sorry Jim but it had nothing to do with the points system. Father time just caught up with Willunga, with there better players all now 30+. Still, dont be surprised to see Willunga win or play in a GF next year! Most are all on board again.

Yes, and Willunga has a couple of extra points to play with in 2011 after 'tanking' in the final round against the creek ;)

Only the usual silly season rumours at this stage. Nothing confirmed. Definately looking to recruit a low mileage Delorean. Haskett training with Sturt and Portlock OS for at least half the season so plenty of fresh challenges and opportunities at Demonland in 2011.
