Hey burgandy ... seems u have forgotten when Shanty had guys like Snowden, Jamieson, Bais, Short, Howe ... etc. Don't tell they played for the love, cos what's their to like about Bridgewater? So all clubs get a few recruits to bolster their juniors, just seems you mite be unreasonable given the club you support gets a few duds, or blokes who won't hang around .. can ya blame 'em? What future. How can you go broke when success generate support ... does being ordinary have the same effect? Anyway, well done to the Uris Bs on a fighting effort given the likes of Smith and Bensch were able to play. If that's their only finals game for the year, gues we struck them on the wrong day. Bad luck to Andy Wilton who I believe broke his leg or ankle, and well done to Runt, who was chaired off the ground ... believe he has retired ... again. We'll wait and see ... maybe he gonna apply for the coaching job at Unley!

yeah GD uris put up a good fight, choppa was real good played with alot of heart, and tried to get the boys over the line.. i dont think either smith or bensch were game winners on the day, but are certainly an ominous sight in a bgrade side. i agree with devilsadvocate though i think barker should beat them anyway. gd luck to the u17 devils and all the other teams playing this week. id say- Uri's
Mtbarker
devils
and i think ironbank?

see you in the G.F

onkas finished impressively against blackwood wat a last quarter i thort that the woodies could have stayed with them but the onkas little men just had too much. i havent had a chance of seeing too much of onkas but stevy tanner had a field day wat a great player. one positive for the woods is the young ruckman they had who is this fella he played real well and seemed to be beating shee in ruck!

just a quick question for the rest of u fellas on the forum who do u think lofty would rather play uris or the dogs? Lofty seem to have the wood over uris lately and have previously lost to the dogs just interested on wat u have too say bout this! :)

i can see where you are coming from. but there is a difference between getting a handful of few paid players to a club which i have heard bridgy had this year but when there are 10+ paid players at a club it starts to go a bit far. specially when you see blokes like sam broadbridge and L chapman who was only in recent times playing association football, playing in the b grade! than theres the other local boys who are missing out on a game at a club which when was struggling were playing colts and helping out the seniors. what happens when these local young players leave as they cann't get a decent run and than your paid players leave, where is the club than?

When is the Central GF being held? Sat or Sun? If on Saturday it will be going up against the Crows Prelim - would that matter?

I'm one of these players, and I can tell you that I'm pumped our boys are playing in the GF. While it's disappointing to miss playing in finals, I'd much rather see my mates who've also copped some beltings over the year, win a flag than go on getting smashed week in week out.

Are you serious? Have you watched a game of HFL A Grade this year?

The AFL has nothing on hills footy. Come out to the GF and you wont be disappointed.

Good work Dutchy - you wont be disappointed. And $7 entrance kicks having to pay $60 to watch the stinking Cows!

Not sure where it will be played yet. I've heard Loby is in pretty poor shape, but can't substantiate that. Uri and Onka's are the other potential hosts I guess as their grounds are both in excellent condition. Could be a metter of he who fails on Sat, holds the big one as a consolation prize.

From a Devils perspective, I hope Loby comes up so our runners get that extra space.

Devils U17's have had the same team all year. We don't have any college or Sturt boys this year.

I reckon Barker would win even if Smith and Bensch played.

Im pretty sure they were a completley different team to when i last saw them play, the ruckman certainly is new. I think the devils dont have enough scoring power and the Ironbank runners will be all over them!!
Who ever plays Blackwood in the GF will get their ass kicked anyway!

The team has several players who had commitments with other sports and couldnt play all year, but they did qualify.

The boys kicked 10 goals against a solid Mt Barker side on the weekend and made them look second rate. B Pistola and J Warburton are capable of kicking plenty provided they get good supply from Maslin, Paech, Huxford and Kerrigan.

We got close to Blackwood at Heathfield earlier in the year. Anything can happen in a GF. Never write off the Devils!

i dunno bout that the young devils seem to have a good midfield (paech, Maslin, Huxford) dont know if ironbank are really that strong in the middle if flaherty doesnt play well i think ironbank will struggle.

just wanna change topic for a second who do you think lofty would rather play the dogs or the cabbage??

bookie - We don't care who we play. The top three teams have been very even all year, and both Cabbage and Onkas have their different strengths and weaknesses.

I personally think the Cabbage is a little better than the Dogs. I just hope they smash the crap out of eah other!!!

Ideally we'd like to play Bridgewater!!! It's always great to beat the Shantys.

Ron - don't fake concern for Lofty players now, Shanty's have never given a toss about Lofty's well-being til this rubbish about paid players rears it's head. I think we're all sick of talking about $$ in hills footy.
I don't reckon Bridgey will be around next season, but if they are, it'll be in country div.
The strong word is that Lobey will definitely host the GF. Onkas and Lofty would love the large ground.
Bookie - good question...to be honest, Uris and Onkas pose an equal threat to Lofty. I reckon this week's game not only holds interest in regards as to who goes into the GF, but how that team emerges from the game as well ie injuries. I know last week that Onkas were well below full strength, and a couple of Uris blokes were sore too.

THIS IS MASSIVE

Postby devilsadvocate » Wed Sep 13, 2006 1:47 pm

Blackwood has been disqualified from the B Grade finals race after alledgedly fielding 5 players who had not qualified!

Uraidla put in an appeal against the Woods which was heard and upheld at the HFL last night. Could still be a Lofty v Cabbage GF in both senior grades.

Has this ever happened in the HFL before?

So what happens now do they go looking in the Uraidla hotel for the B graders?
Do they play Mt Barker this week, or is it a walk over?

I say lucky Cabbage Cutters get 2 mad mondays!!!

Can't see them beating Mt Barker to be honest, but they were the only team to beat the Devils in '06, so they are capable.

Uri's may be placing a large order for Berocca between now and Sat!

Holy sh#t...if that's true, that is massive, and would dead set pull the heart out of Blackwood. What a stupid mistaka to maka! Blackwood hierarchy have a lot to answer for...
I reckon Cabbage could beat Mt Barker and we'll see Lofty V Uraidla both grades.
Who's the poor guy making phone calls to Blackwood B graders telling them that there's no game this weekend......?
