When you lack 8 or 9 A grade footballers (the bottom 4 sides will understand this), getting 2 or 3 world beaters @ $600+ per game doesnt change things a lot you need to add depth and bulk to the squad. If things go to plan this year 2012 would be the year to top up with some big names.

Throw in Turner from Marion 3 pts who is a handy pickup.
I know of a few other Marion guys sniffing around Goolwa but it looks like the SAAFL lads will now force them elsewhere.

Thats right LF. Gotta start somewhere - building is the way. Yank tried (and did a mighty job) to come from bottom to top with some (reportedly) big coin and clever points work but I dont think that helps build a strong club. We had plenty of ex-league guns through the club in the nineties, but we also built a strong core before that to base on.

The SAAFL boys will be good to go, one is a div 6 player which equals 2 points. With turner in and ewer in that equates to 4 points. We have 15 to use, potentially 17 after Monday's agm. I think most clubs, excpet maybe a few at the lower end had more points on their books than allowed last year anyway to account for injuries, illness, form, holidays etc etc. We also had 4 colts (3 are still colts this year) play A Grade last year so there is a few options.

Players resisting change = unsuccessful club. If these soft individuals don't want to change and the Club wants to be successful then move them on. The Reynella boys under a similarly tough and successful coach have accepted change, have put in the hard work and have been rewarded.

Pommy i would not be passing all the blame on the players. There is absolutely no game plan at all and to lose Schneidfer and Jackman their two best midfielders will not make things any easier. A Great club with soem quality people BUT the culture of the whole place needs to change. Dont just blame players, the Coach has gotta take some responsibility.
Makes you think they should have appointed Troy Jacques when he applied at the same time Steve Hill did - would definately have changed the culture and been able to pull some good quality footballers with him. Looks like the pannel may habv made the wrong decision.

I understand from a very reliable source at McLaren that:
"It appears a disgruntled ex-member of the McLaren F.C. who is currently coaching a reserves S.F.L. team is still undermining McLaren. Appears to be a family trait. I suggest that anyone who has questions involving the McLaren F.C. contact their president as that is why he is there, to represent the Club. To the ex-member, the Club has and will always survive without you, I suggest that you don't burn anymore bridges".

I'd be very careful throwing around bullshlt allegations like that on here, Vics. How is the guy in question undermining McLaren? I suggest you focus on your own club. It is going to be a fun year with Stringer at the helm

They don't need any ex-players/members/familys/VP's to undermine the place...the club as a whole have been doing it themselves for years :)

The truth is unless you are at Mclaren then you dont know whats going on so lets stop speculating! The comitee, coaches and players are comitted to the club and backing eachother fully for 2011. The rest we will know come the end of the season. A lot of people are working hard to get Mclaren back on track.
If you ask me if your not a member and you have something bad to say about the running of a footy club then your opinion does not count. ;)

Youngpace - you have NO idea what you are talking about. I think your dellusions of who I am and what ive done added with your talk of cloak and dagger undermining is ridiclous. Perhaps you need to jump off the rumor mill and get your info somwhere other than the salvation army thrift store.
