Points system is across the board South Australia wide, & all leagues are governed by the same set of points. Now that the SAAFL has come into line with the rest of us, they to will attract points as per previous years Div 123, 3 pointers

I am just going by the GSFL documents from the last GSFL delegates meeting. Maybe a delegate on here could clarify? I will have to re-read but I was 100% (now 90% because you have put doubt in my mind) that GSFL clubs are allowed 2 x div 1,2 or 3 players that will be 0. This has to be declared. Any outside of those 2 attract points as per usual.

O points was on the agenda, however in their wisdom, the SAAFL decided to adobt the points system, & now it doesn't stand. If you read the fine print, it states "at this time"

I read an email that said that if the Saafl didn't sign up to the point system by a certain date, which i cant remember, each Gsfl club could get 2 players from the Saafl at 0 points.

I'm sure you're correct LF, but I cant see the CFB letting leagues make up their own rules on top of the 1's already in place. I too may be wrong, but if this sort of precident is set, it becomes very dangerous. This is the exact reason they so badly wanted the Amatures to come in line in the fist place. Good luck & if that decision stands, I wonder if all leagues will adobt it, as I assume it would only be a lood hole open for 1 year a best

The SAAFL was given an extension by the CFL (although they weren't happy about it)

We held a League meeting, with the CFL in attendance, and there was a straw vote by the clubs (52-9) to bring in the APPS. This has to be ratified at the AGM but with that sort of initial support, I think you'll find it get up.

That means 3 points for Div 1-3 and 2 points for Div 4-7

I think you'll find any previous advice about zero points is now void (unless there's a complete turnaround at the AGM)

Its bad that all of this is so late - it's not good for us either - we were recruiting based on no APPS and some clubs are in strife because of it.

They cant move the Goal Posts now
Decision for zero points was ratified and passed
Has to stand
Not the other Leagues problem if the SAAFL couldnt get it done by the extended date given
Just shows how professional once again Tynte Street is

Gotta love a bit of November controversy. Our advice on the issue comes from someone who should know exactly whats happening.

These rules on the points for amateur league players were in place in the Hills league last season and were ratified again in conjunction with the CFL at the end of September/start of October. I don't see why GSFL and their clubs weren't aware at that stage. Maybe poor communication along the lines somewhere?

The problem with all of this is.... Many clubs have gone out, recruited from SAAFL, on the advice from the CFB that they were to be zero points. The Amature realised what a massive mistake they were making by not coming into line & hence made the decision to do so. Now 1 of 2 things is going to happen:

a, Either the CFB in their wisdom uphold the original decision of zero point for this year only

b, They do a reversal & go back to the Div123 3points, Div4-7 2 points as it was last year in the "feeling out period"

As per my previous posts.

I think the GSFL clubs whos seasons finished after round 18, would agree that it was extremely hard to recruit with the SAAFL making such a late decision on the points system. I beleive the SAAFL approved the points system on the 8th of November, country clubs would have been well and truly in recruiting mode by then. It will be a great system for everyone once the kinks are ironed out

Might help when some posters stop talking unqualified crap as well.

Let me save you the indignity of talking further nonsense. There is no embargo on SAAFL players for yours, mine or any other league for that matter. If you continue to believe and spruik this, however attractive it might seem to you, you are heading for a fall and will contribute to your club making some very unwise decisions.

Get with the program, the APPS is now equal accross all leagues except for the four who did not join, namely the Far West, Broken Hill, Woomera & Kangaroo Island leagues. Now, if you want to recruit players from those leagues with a value of 0 points then go for your life.
