OK, so the last round is upon us and I have a couple of comments. Firstly, my Roos are looking solid and the young lads are really improving, not discounting the help of a gun forward and experienced recruits. Am looking forward to hearing results from the weekends games surrounding fifth spot. I have already heard rumours that Blackwood are having a few players "rest" this week ahead of the finals series. This does pose the question though, by doing this are they giving Onka's a real serious chance to win so that in-form teams in Hahndorf and Ironbank do not make the finals? Onkas struggle against the better teams, yet Ironbank and Hahndorf, Ironbank especially, have pushed some of the beter teams! I know that first time around, Ironbank gave us one of the hardest games of the year, and they have been close to Blackwood twice now also.

Secondly, good old Owen's predictions for the mail medal are the obvious ones, any other suggestions? I fancy Longbottom from Blackwood, think he will be very very close!

I would have imagined that blackwood would want to play their strongest team to try and get some form going into the finals. Their last month has been pretty average against the lower sides, just getting over the line against ironbank & bridgy and then last weeks unconvincing win against loby. They will have to seriously lift their game if they are going to beat uris and the roos. I would not be at all suprised to see onkas get up this weekend.

As usual are we seeing the Blackwood pretenders again. They show so much promise throughout the season but fall in a heap at the final hurdle. Be interesting to see if this happens again.

Brad Yeomans from Ironbank would have to get plenty of votes, on-baller under the umpires eyes.

Kym Cobb keeping to form never plays the last round and i would think they might give McCormick a spell as he has practically carried Blackwood this year after Roache and Gigney went down.
I don't think missing this game will effect these two guys , in fact i think it would benefit the two ageing war horses freshen up.

I don't feel any of the top 3 would be concerned who finishes 5th and try to orcastrate a result. The top 3 would be more concerned about using the last game to have everyone ready to go for the finals. Give guys who could do with game time a good run and rest the ones who are starting to look tired.

Ironbank need to beat Lobethal by 25 goals to take them into the 5 if Onkas beat Blackwood on Saturday.

What is the condition of Lobethal oval after the rain last weekend?

A 25 goal win would require a score line like 28.15 to 4.8 or there abouts. That could be difficult on a boggy ground but the extra space should suit us.

Hills Supertigers beat Phos/Camden 26.10 to 2 points on Lobey oval on Sunday. The oval was in ok condition. A bit boggy in patches but if it doesnt rain too much thru the week it will be good enough for a good side to belt the suitcase out of an ordinary side.

I reckon I saw at least 6 to 8 regular A-grade starters watching from the verandah during the match against Lobethal on the weekend. Obviously resting them up and not risking them leading up to the finals but it does pose an interesting question which a lot of clubs would deal with this close to finals. Do you put your best side on the park and solidify their form or do you rest them ready for week one of finals? The top 4 are settled now with Mt Barker having a breather next week while Blackwood and Uraidla play off for the second semi. And no, no team would deliberately lose a game in order to shape the 5. Personally, I would rather see Ironbank make it as they have been the more consistent team in the latter part of the season and deserve the spot. Whether Blackwood or Uraidla finish in second spot makes no difference what so ever so there could be an upset on Saturday with Onkas desperate for 5th spot and Blackwood with little to play for other than form and building depth in the squad in case of further injuries. Any coaches out there reading this, what would you do in this situation?

And yes, Sidebottom has been consistent all year but I would still rate Yeomans from Ironbank and Nunan from Barker with more chance. McCormick has the ability to take out the medal any given season but has been played more in the forward lines this year so it's doubtful he'd make much of an impact in this year's count.

If Barker have the first week of finals off - i would expect them to play their best side as you wouldn't want your players having 2 weeks off.
Uraidla, Lofty and the woods i expect will rest a few players who would benefit from a spell.
From a personal perspective i would play, as i always felt that after a week off i had lost a bit of touch.
Jardarf i reckon the extra goals will help McCormick win the medal.

Yes I apologise, I do mean Sidebottom. I think McCormick will be right up there, I agree with more goals, more votes but I think the medal will be won with under 22 votes. Just a theory of course. Don't know much about Nunan, but Yeomans has support on this site. And this is the one who made the All-Australian team or the brother? And I wonder how the umpires will see Fisher, everyone knows how good he was at Glenelg, so wondering if they were in doubt whether he would just get the votes because its him? I would be very happy if he won it though!

And how come on the SportingPulse site, you can see some players performances for every week but not every players?

It is his brother, Ben Made the All Aust. side Brad is the older brother and the one who I believe will poll the most votes.

I was thinking the same thing Lebron, no posts at all yesterday.Three teams fighting for fifth spot, all currently on the same number of games, you would think Ironbank would defeat Lobethal and Hahndorf would defeat Bridgewater, so the Onkas Blackwood game is the most important. Onkas win I would think they take fifth spot with a better percentage, Onkas lose Ironbank take fifth with a slightly better percentage at this stage, but not all done and dusted. Can't wait for the results, looks like a fine day also, this is bigger than the election! Apart from all that I believe it will be a Uraidla v Mt. Barker GF with Uraidla winning.

havent heard a peep out of your obnoxious mouth for weeks.
all that early season gum flapping seems to have petered out to a pathetic whimper as your season has flopped flat on its ass!!!
i mean honestly you are way too over the top and passionate about a side that no one else can stand and it just irritates the damn pants of everyone.
hopefully your season ends in a good old fashioned butt-kicking this saturday at THE FORTRESS and you can crawl your sorry ass back in to whatever hole you came out off for the summer!
cant wait to see the RAIDERS bring their A game and tear Hahndorf apart with their famous slick ball movement from earlier in the season and undeniable talent.
RAIDERS till I DIE!!!
