Haha, would have been good viewing. What was the result?

I remember my 1st A grade game. It had rained all week. There was not 1 blade of grass on Heathfield oval.
In the 1st quarter the fog rolled in. At full back, we could hear the play and a whistle evry now and then, but it was anyone's guess where the footy would appear. Next thing out of the fog, the footy dobbed forward followed by a scrum like an under 8's game.

it not the website, the clubs are responsible for inputting their own results.
Roos by 3 goals over Balckwood
as you said Uraidla over Ironbank
Lofty over Bridgewater by 8-10 goals
Onkas over Hahndorf by a couple of goals
i havent heard how the Div 2 derby went?

Was actually only 3 points. Onkas kicked the last 3 goals of the game, the last one very late into the last. Within the last 45 sec I would say. Game was a little scrappy but quite tight and intense, worth the entry fee although I am sure both sides feel they could have played better.

What happened to Ironbank, both grades!? After touching up Lofty last week I thought they'd be a chance against Uris.

Yeah - my memories of the place are very similar. Remember experiencing the same playing at full back there one year not being able to see beyond CHB and just listening to what was going on and then the football appearing out of nowhere!. Also got a huge chuckle when there was a score at the other end because it would get relayed up the ground (guys progressively yelling Point, Point, Point or goal, goal, goal etc. from one end of the ground to the other) and the goal umpire would dutifully wave the flag/s and record it on his scorecard.

Ah... the honesty and good times in country footy - hard to beat - I still get a chuckle now every time I think of it.

Haha, classic stuff.

I remember the balcony couldn't see anything, so just chanted "Devils....Devils..." even when Onkas kicked a goal because they couldn't see the action!!

The As wasted early opportunities kicking with a breeze that would have put us 2 or 3 goals up at qtr time. From there Uraidla played the game on their terms and were never headed. Too good.

Is fifth spot still up for grabs AF? or do the bankers have to rely on other results falling into place??

The Birdwood v Onkas clash should be an interesting one this saturday. With Onkas missing Shee & Smith to the State Championship side one would give Birdwood half a chance. I don't think Birdwood will get up but it might be much closer than some think.

Agree that Shee and Smith will be missed and can assure you this will not be a game taken lightly by our boys. Birdwood were very hard at it last time we met and have some very good players.

What I will say though is that our club encourages players to achieve things such as State Country selection unlike your Mt Barker,s and Uraidla,s and Lofty's of this world. Surely with some of the quality running around in those sides they could have had some representation and in doing so showcased the talent we have running around in this league every Satuday afternoon. This should be very closely looked at by the HFL and fines and suspensions will soon stop that sort of behaviour.

Congratulations to the three boys selected and do the HFL proud.

First up, well done to the Onka's boys selected. Great achievement.

But the bit about Lofty is just utter bullshit.

Turn the clock back to 2006. We had 10 players in the HFL side and 3 in the state side.

This year injuries prevented our invites from going. As a club, we openly encourage players to strive to play at the highest level.

So perhaps have a think about writing bullshit and just worry about what's happening in your own part of the world.

Touched a nerve there Devil have I sorry mate? Did not know injuries prevented your invitees from attending, I take that back then but no excuse for Uraidla and Mt Barker though. Ironbank also to be congratulated on young Yoemans inclusion.

On the subject of talking utter BS, DA your post about bridgy skipper eckermann was unwarranted filth. The bloke had an alright game, and after copping abuse from the idiots on the balcony all day, still got up there for a beer with them afterwards. Eckers is playing some sensational footy and does a lot for the club, he is worth whatever he is getting.

We must have watched a different game because Eckerman's only touch in the 2nd half was a kick in from full back.

But good to see a few Bridgey's come up to the club afterwards.

Mate, have ya ever thought that perhaps some players just dont want to play in association footy. I know of no club, top or bottom of the ladder, that prevents a player acheiving selection in any interleague or state teams. A player recently out of SANFL for example might just wanna play local footy after spending years training & busting to play at a higher level. Other players might just want to spend a week off with their family, others might only want club level success. Agree that the Hills would love to have their best talent representing them, but at least they have guys that want to play & not guys that are there cause they have to be & have no interest.
