looks like you won't be seeing any more GF's anytime soon then! get real mate it's country footy, something would be wrong if it wasn't a full house, wana park on the wing you better get there early! McLaren did an awesome job of hosting the GF last year, great atmosphere, it was a fantastic day!

Think that was tongue in cheek re: a previous post. Is there an official word on the GF. I am really hoping it is played at Langhorne Creek beacuse cooking BBQ's and serving hot dogs doesnt sound like much fun. The rain has done Goolwa Oval a world of good and with 3 weeks without traffic it will be good to go worst case scenario

That ground looks pretty damn good if you ask me!!! Was this taken 6 months ago???
I wonder if we could get the SFL prelim moved down there for this weekend??!!

The photo was taken today! You can prolong your career training on this deck (look at me I should never started playing but managed to get in 20+ years), so any 28-35 year olds who are looking to get a couple of extra years in feel free to get on board. Yetti, I have an aerial shot of Goolwa Oval from the 1986 Grand Final Day. Bloody big crowd, cars parked 300 metres away.
You can love football, but it wont always love you back!

Totally agree i think what mclaren did with reserving sections for the different clubs competing added to the atmosphere as all supporters of each club got to sit together. At the moment there are already four differnet clubs(victor/creek/will/strath) in the gf so hopefully langhorne creek will do the same.

So what are peoples thoughts on this weeks prelim match ups:

U/14 - Willunga V Strath
U/17 - Willunga V Victor
B's - Strath V McLaren
A's - Victor V Willunga

Willunga in the 14's, 17's & A's for me, with Strath bouncing back from last week's loss in the B's!
The greats weren't great because at birth they could paint,
The greats were great because they paint a lot.

The yetti was around 30 then and played for Willunga with Kevin Poulter as coach.
It was the first time that Willunga wore the hooped red and white socks, and Willunga's first season in the GSFL after 99 years in the SFL
We played Strath who had beaten us by 10 goals in the Qualifying Final and we beat them by 9 goals.
A 20 goal turn around in 2 weeks.
Poor old Bill Rowe belted yours truely in the Qually and missed the GF as it was his third send off
We all put in $50, as did Strath and backed ourselves to win. A bit of a bonus cos we all played for nothing in those days.
From what I hear nothing has changed at Willunga, as they still do not pay players

1986 Willunga 17 13 115 def Strathalbyn 15 11 101

1988 Willunga 14 10 94 def Encounter Bay 4 17 41

Willunga played in the GF the first 4 years they were part of the GSFL for 2 flags...not a bad start

How many did you play in Yetti?

My source tells me that my good mate David "Cheese" Hams did a hammy Tuesday night & is in doubt for this week, not that it would slow him down anymore :D

What a shame! Put his elbow through my eye once - then I got reported for yelling at the goal umpire that didnt do anything about it. Luckily Chook Smith had a word to his brother Brenton (then Strath President) and got them to drop it!

When/Why did you move to Mclaren Yetti? Did you play for them too?

Might have been charging to the newsagency to pick up a copy only to see that after 88 minor round goals he didnt make team of the year. Question: Where is the prelim final? The Times has it advertised as Myponga

Is there any truth to the rumour that David Hams is retiring at the conclusion of 2010? Heard it from a couple of people now? Who is capable to step in to his enormous shorts in 2011 if this is the case?
