My tips

Mallala home ground advantage - beat the eagles by 8 goals

Balak over Hamley in a close one

Two Wells over Virginia by 5. Ricky O to play but will be still drinking from the night before at 10am.

United to have a big one at dubby starting tonight and finishing sunday arvo.
If you don't like it, change it. If you don't want to change it, it can't be that bad!

Had an interesting chat with a bloke associated with the NEW Angle Vale football Club, he tells me their plan is to get themselves in the BLG in Three years, good luck, i said, but the interesting part is that he said they poached several Virginia players, not sure who, but thats what he said.

He also mentioned that they would be striving to improve their list over the next few years, so i would suggest that a few of their scouts would be out and about, trying to poach other players from several leagues including our great league. Now i wouldn't expect people to be handing in clearance forms straight away, he mentioned the fact that they were quite flush with coin, im not too sure that they know how much money goes through a country club instead of an amateur club, but i think they have a rude awakening headed their way.

personally i would have thought they would have a crack at getting into the APFL as the 8th side, but noooo, big dreams it seems!!

This weekend the roosters money is on.

Mallala, by just few, the premiers would cherry ripe after the break and are the cracks starting to appear in the HWE machine?

Balak by spoons, not sure how big whiskey got on with his date with the tribunal during the week, but i would expect he would be ok, and The likes of Catford, Levi and Scott to be a real hassle for the low flying bombers.

Two Wells comfortably, with the battle of the seccafiens, Anthony and Ned, Rooster Ned is a genuine talent and with support from the rest of the rooster running brigade, i think they may have the rams covered.

Apparently they will be developing a new complex on Fradd St/rd, but evidently they were to share the same paddock as Angle Vale Soccer club, but the brown stuff hit the fan recently and have been forced to "borrow" Willaston's oval and clubroom, whilst the donnybrooks are away. Apparently it works quite well as there is only one clash where they have to play elsewhere. But it sounds like they will end up being closer to Gawler than the town itself.

They originally came about as they have had a junior program for about ten years and now a lot of the lads have grown up and they are losing guys to other clubs and have decided to go senior!

no oval and the way council work 5+ years maybe, rock perre the only 1 of note to go, but talking to him face to face, he might not be there for much longer. 8th team in the apfl has merrit, they could use roseworthy's ground!

Even getting into the APFL would be tough. To get off the bottom they would have to at least be a competitive div 4 side. Thats 3 divs in 3 years from where they're at the moment.

There is a description of the new mercy rule in the Plains Producer this week.

Something I was not aware of before - If the mercy rule is enforced apparently goal scorers do not count to official scores for the remainder of the game, either last half or last quarter. Looks like we will never see a 100 goal forward ever again at U17s.

Another reason (do we need any more?) why this rule needs to be flicked immediately.

spoke to apfl committed man and he is in favour of getting rid of this stupid stupid rule! when you speak to Andy seccafien next time, ask HIM why this rule was put in place? also ask him, why we dont match our neighbouring leagues u17s cut of date! do the math! if one club looses a couple of juniors every five years the apfl will be missing a total of 14 players in five years ANDY! our league is unique in the fact the short distance to the gawler league unlike the Yorke peninsula league, northern league's and what works for sum don't work for all! NOW what is the deal with the apfl being sole supplier of club shorts and sock's and then fail to deliver. this is Australia not zimbabwe.

U17's are big enough and ugly enough to have to be protected from the odd hiding! And if league scouts were looking for new talent, reading the papers would not provide an accurate report of how players perform and i know that if my lad kicked nine goals and was in the paper as two he wouldn't be pleased.

APFL just needs to let these blokes play, let the scoreboard take care of itself as it has done for 100 years.

Another interesting point is that this years teams seem to be reasonably evenly matched at this point so it appears that we've done alright without this mercy rule.

I am still struggling to find a supporter of the rule - it just has hairs on it from every angle you look at it. A few directors I have spoken to also are not in agreement with it - so why is it in place is the big question?

I reckon I saw a side "pull back" at 1/4 time last week - maybe they didn't want the rule to come in?? :o

I also think it was invoked at Virginia v Hamley U17 game last weekend - bit hard to tell from the posted scores. Maybe someone can verify this.

Same here NOT ONE person can see any benifit with the murcy rule. this a case of a few narrow minded apfl executive committe men. It's up to clubs to attract juniors to play football at their club ,with a bit of help from the SANFL now and again
