I'm told before the game on Saturday a few of the Yank boys were talking freely about how they were going to come up against Strath this week...... :?

Looks like they are going to have to be on their game this week after Sundays result.

Does anyone know how Strath are shaping up? Haven't heard much about them yet.

Hmm - counting chickens.... [-x

Will be interesting to see if they bounce back.

No - quietly going about their business..finished top...only lost 2 games for the year - all the focus seems to have been on the other sides when Strath are really the ones to beat.

Posted earlier about round 18:

Strathalbyn:
Missing: Eagleton, Schrama (2pts), Wilson (2pts) (P Siddall, Hall, Thrum all played plenty of A grade games all played in the B’s – probably qualifying)
Played with 9 out of 13 points available

I'm sure they are well rested and ready to go - also finishing top in both grades gives them the flexibility to do what they want in selection.

Both Victor/Strath games in the minor round were were very close:

15.7-97 to 14.4-88 strath won round 2
13.7-85 to 10.19-79 Victor won in round 11

I hope Victor bring their A game to Willunga on Sat!

Willunga have beaten Yank both times during the minor round, so to exit in straight sets is a real possibility WOW. Home ground advantage will help as well.
I thought Yank played a short, indirect style of game on Saturday, which will be hard to play at Willunga.
Langhorne Creek...gone for 2010 and with an ageing list and no depth in their two's will have some work to do off season to stay as a contender in 2011.

Yank, if they do drop out this week will also be at the crossroads. Will drop from 15 points to 11 and have no room for any more recruits.

I think the 90-100k is a bit over the top WOW.....but certainly the number is a lot higher than the 40k (tops) plus a few Muddy $ at Pongy.

Totally agree with you yetti about the creek saw game on sunday they didn't have any leg speed to take willunga on. Brought back too many half fit name players ben moore clearly wasn't fit and felipe hill and randell follett had no influence on the game. The young leg speed they had only came off bench when game was over. Matt thomas still out for willunga is a worry and carnevale only came on ground halfway thru 3rd qtr with hammy bandaged.
Creeks mad monday ben mcleod best on ground with his old school west end outfit lying nude on the road was a sight to see!

WTF??? How the hell does that happen? I remember a game in the 90s where Victor absolutely smacked the Creek (Melican kicked 16) and the free kick count was 17-3 against us at the end of the day. Absolutely ridiculous. Full marks to Willunga on their win if that was the case.

So sick of bad umpiring ruining our great game. I know it is a difficult job - one of my best mates has taken it up and is doing well, but the blatent bs borders on outright cheating. A few weeks ago for the Victor/McLaren game we had a young girl do the A's - she did a great job. She seemed to go by the old KISS method - and that is all we require for amateur footy - pay the obvious free kicks. Yes she missed a couple of frees or got them wrong, but she put the old fella she was teamed up with to shame - he was attrocious.

wouldnt be the first old fella to be outdone by a female

Pencil in a Hourigan Domination in the underage medal counts, Darcy for 14s and Jarad for 17s, Fitzgerald from yank will go well in 14s and Dylan Wehnam from pongy will go close in the 17s too

Build the kids a bigger medal cabinet darcy got up in the 14s and jarad won the 17's, well done

Congratulations to both hourigan boys both extremely talanted. Hopefully darcy sticks with footy as he is also a gun basketballer. If strath didn't have the great depth they have at the moment jarred could have played in the a grade all year succesfully no problem.

My tips for this week;

Victor over Strath - Heavy day will suit Victor more than it does Strath I reckon. I'm sure Strath will have a full compliment to choose from, Victor only 1 change. Could go either way

Willunga over Yank - They are 3 big outs for Yank, if they were playing i'd tip Yank but otherwise Willunga for me.

Two good close games, that's what finals are about!

I think I would forget the Mudlarks Best and Fairest and focus on the Mudlarks AS Clarke. Thats the more accurate IMO.
WoW correct me if Im worng but is it still most Mail Medal votes for the B&F?

What is the AS Clarke?

The A grade BnF system at Pongy changed a few years ago. Was decided on Mail medal votes, yes it doesnt make much sense but now every player is rated out of 10 by the coach & assistants every round to decide the BnF. Timmy missed votes in 4 games which hurt him, lost by 5 or so votes. Had a huge year. In saying that Gasko was great for us this year & did deserve the BnF. Many from Morphies & the SFL would know he just doesn't give in & sets very high standards for himself. His ability to win the contested ball is amazing. Massive to have them both on board in 2011.

AS Clarke award is 5 slips handed out to the punters - Top 5 picked - max 25 votes per round. Supporters MVP i guess.

The yetti has just ventured out of his warm dry cave just behind d'Arrenburg to check out some ovals.
McLaren Oval has surface water over about 80%...good move to move!
Willunga has 40 % covering of water and the middle very wet
Compass has a great grass covering with a river of water flowing around the outside. It looks very wet.
