also heard that 2 transfers have been put in from ramblers to mypo. dunno who they are though. 1 of them could be crossy i guess (the coach).

Mypo could be right up there for a top 3 position this year, especially with this CHF.

The recruit they got from Ramblers with Crossy would want to be pretty good, as he'd be worth 3 points, so if thats the case it would be a significant loss for Ramblers.

yes very true with the pts thing. it could very well only be a b-grade player too i guess. the info came originally from dalwood and we all know how he likes to pump things up... will try to find out more though.

I only know about this what floataboy wrote on here but i'd say prob not as Pedler only ever played in defence for WWT and also hes not from the amateur league either.

I think Mypo have only got 10 points to work with, so if they get Pedler, he'll be 4 points, that would leave them 6 points to get 3 pointers, probably this CHF and the midfielder as well.

I guess we'll get all this clarified in the next few weeks when details of each clubs' recruits become better known.

from memory, mypo got joe pedlar cleared to them before june 30 last year. by doing so he is already on their books and is not worth any points in 08 even though he never played a game for them.
a little bit sneaky but quite clever really, as all registered players are worth zero points. i recall imps in particular had a problem with this (of all teams...) but i think to mypos credit, they new there was a chance the new system was coming in and made the most of it. so mypo would still get 10 points

and no the CHF i got told about wasnt pedlar. still trying to get his name.

the CHF goes by the name of 'panda' with the last name corrie i think. big unit who can play. going with james pedler's brother in law, jedd 'namma' dunbar from woodville south

apparently not. i assume you either have to be a registered player from last year, or have played a certain number of games in previous years to be worth zero points with the new system.
as far as i know, mypo were the only club to expose this 'flaw' with the introduction of the points scheme. clever tigers as it saved them 4 points

Apparently he's back at Porties this year after having a knee recon, good ruckman, just a big unit, not sure on age but he isn't young.. Trev took the biggest hanger on him, and he's a huge bloke!

Probably fair enough in a way given that they finished 5th and had the same points allocated to them that the team who had won the last 4 premierships had allocated to them!!

I'd imagine this loophole will get looked at and this may be the last occasion its allowed to occur, otherwise other clubs would follow the lead and the practice would become widespread. But good luck to Mypo for finding a way around the system.

The system will always be flawed but hopefully the league manages to keep it under control - seems like a great idea to me if it is policed hard.

well this particular flaw is only apparent the year before the system is brought in so it wouldnt happen again in this league. any player from now on who is registered will be worth their allocated points.
it will be interesting to see if other leagues who implement this system catch on and stop teams from doing it. but it would be hard and it is really only SANFL players who are able to do it, unless you dont play the rest of the season at the club you are getting cleared from.

i think the system is great and hopefully there are not any other flaws with it. it sounds like a pretty foolproof system... at this stage

I asked a regular WWT poster (an Eagles official) on an SANFL thread re Joe Pedlar given that he doesn't appear to be listed as an OUT so far for the Eagles.

This was his response:

cd wrote:Joe is not an out.

So sounds like hes a required player for the WWT, will be interesting to see what ensues here.

I spoke to a mypo lad last night and he said there has been no sign of joe this year either and depending on who you ask out there, you get a different response as to if he is playing. noone seems to know much. maybe mypo just got him to sign last year to get him in before the points system came in, just in case he wanted to go and play with the brothers. not such a silly idea i guess.
time will tell wether he plays in the RMFL or not but if an eagles official doesnt think so, surely thats a strong point.

Well i dont know about relocating home games but...

Meningie now has a 60m beach where the lake has receded so i think some training will be down there on the sand, I think the pipe is out of the water so the oval cant be watered at the moment. We have a trial at home against the old enemy BDT crows before easter so that will be interesting.

Interesting rumor though crowmuncher....
