I know for a fact Ben Hook is aware of it but he has also said he won't be going near it in his column.

BTB alluded to this being the case straight after the incident occured. Anyone speaking negatively about MP is on a hiding to nothing.
Hi, My name is Ron 'Bluey' Dunn. Did you know I played in the 61 & 62 Tasman Premiership sides....

We are all being bullied here like a bunch of school kids. we are damned if we do and damned if we dont,
these guys contribute nothing to the league and get away with everything! I wish we had stuck with a bye
instead of forming the sixth team :(
The SANFL and press are no better

So this will all end up Coates v Semmens and cost $10,000 in legal fees   .

The BFC wanted harsher penalties, now lets see the PLFL deliver!

I think around $1k - $2k is a fair penalty, plus costs to mallee park for loss of trade at bar and canteen which will probably total another $500 - $1k.
Any less and it sets a precident that we can just turn up when we feel like it.

What happens if bostons don't like the fine and don't turn up next week?
TFC.....the club for the future

the LIVER gets another hammering 8) or we could be like another club and just don't pay the fine, seems to work without further penalty

pay the MPFC for the bar?? are you f*cking kidding!
Every game they play away from MP they bring in all their booze in the boot of the car and leave all the cans and bottles on the ground when they leave...they never support the bar of any other club - why the hell should they be compensated? Just another rule they break......

In breaking news the PLFL has agreed to send a $500 compensation bill to the Boston FC for lost bar profits at the Mallee Park FC.

In response, Boston has sent a $20,000 invoice to Mallee Park FC for lost bar profits over a 19-year period.

reverse discrimination point out that your club has players and supporters
of all ethnicities. Does MPFC ?

While some want the MPFC removed from the PLFL the PLFL now have the power to remove the BFC from the PLFL. It wont happen but the constitution says a fine or removal is to be the verdict.

Didnt a Boston coach get fined $500 for taking his players off the ground with 5 minutes to go in a game? and that was 20 years ago. The more I think of it, the crime is a whole club not turning up, the more I think the fine will be $5,000 - $10,000

what's the fine for no oval lined, no key to change room, no hot water, no show of junior grades, no time keepers, no goal umpires, no field umpires, no match balls.... shall I go on I think not.

if anyone other club did this BS for just one week not continually the crap would way hit the fan, why are we so dictated to by one club, it's ludacris but I guess that's not the Leagues fault what could they possibly do?

Welcome back Acock.

I'm pretty sure the BFC will just get a slap on the wrist for this infrigement of the rules. Besides thats the only punishment the league has been handing out for misendevours right? Or is that just for one certain club.

I applaud Bostons stand they have taken(even though it might turn sour), but it could have been dealt with better by all parties involved. Starting with the league relocating the game to Ravendale.

Very interesting times ahead, New rules to be set in place, stricter penalties, ANYONE
in violation gets a set penalty. IMO its the only way of moving forward.

I find it inconcievable that after so much inaction, the President and Vice President of the PLFL are the two people "prosecuting" Wednesday night.

It proves clearly that those two "powerbrokers" of the League are definetly scared of making decisions against MPFC when there is the potential for racial discrimination to be claimed.

Now that it is a different club, they will be ever so keen to display "action," to try and regain some credibility, which in fact is going to lead to those two being considered as even bigger jokes than they are currently.

More great coverage the MPFC have provided for the PLFL, we would be looked on as a great League to join

ANGRY football umpires at Port Lincoln are threatening to strike next season after being targeted by abusive fans at the city's grand final.
Port Lincoln Football League whistleblowers blamed booze-fuelled crowd members for "ridiculous" abuse. One of the grand final umpires has even quit after his wife was targeted by a spectator who hurled a glass alcohol bottle after the premiership decider.

Tension continued into the night and police made eight arrests and reported windows being smashed at up to six local businesses.

The umpires have demanded the Eyre Peninsula league crack down on wild fans, and said the grand final turmoil was the culmination of a growing anti-umpire culture.

"It's got to the stage where we've had enough," regional umpiring manager Michael Hegarty said.

"Barrack and be funny, by all means, but we're sick of being abused. People can't just pay their $5, go along and abuse hell out of the umpires – but that's the culture."

The decider between Waybacks and Mallee Park last month reached flashpoint when alcohol-fuelled spectators berated umpires for perceived one-sided calls.

Some supporters of famed Aboriginal team Mallee Park, which has produced stars including Adelaide's Graham Johncock and Port Adelaide brothers Peter and Shaun Burgoyne, believed umpires were biased against the Peckers.

Mallee Park player Jason Burgoyne was suspended for two matches for striking an opponent and three more for using abusive language towards an umpire.

Burgoyne had been yellow-carded and later branded umpires "cheats", Mr Hegarty said.

Field umpire Todd George was leaving Port Lincoln's Centenary Oval after the grand final when his wife, Marianne Allen, had a 750ml glass bottle thrown at her.

It missed, but Mr George said the incident had ended his passion for umpiring at country level.

"It may be that come March I'll decide to do it but at the moment I'm definitely against it," Mr George said.

"We can take most things but when it involves your family – your wife and your kids – it's just not worth it. My lad used to come along to the footy in the afternoon with me and I just can't take him any more. He doesn't need to see and hear that stuff thrown at his dad."

Umpires' co-ordinator Jim Papazoglov will present a list of demands to league officials at a meeting on October 21.

Moves include:

A CRACKDOWN on patrons smuggling alcohol into grounds.

EMPOWERING club stewards to approach and calm troublemakers in their supporter base.

CONSIDERATION of a program where under-17s players umpire under-13s games to generate understanding of the role.

"If there's no sign they want to implement them, they'd better find some other umpires," Mr Papazoglov said. "If it doesn't happen we will withdraw our services for the first five rounds next year. If still nothing is done we'll go to 10 games."

The hardline response has won the support of the elite AFL Umpires Association. Chief executive Bill Deller even stepped up the debate by calling for a total ban on alcohol consumption during games to limit verbal and physical violence.

"It's up to the league to provide a safe workplace – and I don't know how many workplaces condone the drinking of alcohol to excess that results in violence," Mr Deller said.

Mr Hegarty said violent clashes made recruiting and retaining umpires "impossible".

"We lost six or seven umpires from the previous year because of abuse, and I dare say we'll lose a few this year too," he said.

State umpiring manager Shane Harris said 2300 umpires were registered in country and metropolitan leagues across SA, but numbers were dropping. "Just this year I've had four or five incidents come across my desk of violence or threats that are alarming," he said.

Port Lincoln police drafted in seven extra officers to patrol the league's grand final and after-parties.
