Didnt think the umpires were that bat at all. Goolwa seemed to give away too many silly free kicks and 50m penalty's. I will agree with the send off, that was ridiculous.

Some interesting results for sure today, the most notable one probably being Strath's fairly easy win over Willunga.

Victor's relatively small margin over Goolwa/PE was also noticeable.

Thanks for the welcome and for the support on the troll.

I'm sure Victor would have welcomed a percentage booster but as killa said they certainly had some out. 7 changes from the week before, 2 first gamers and a second gamer in.

I didnt see the game LF but that'd have to be the first time the umps helped Victor in a loong time ;)

Depth is definately their problem. No quality in the B's, but at least the colts are going Ok which they have used in the A's a bit. Missing from their best side: Tarquin Brown, Boyd, Ryan, White, Saunders, Dale Ellis -

Will Dale Ellis be back in time for the finals? I've heard he's having problems with his knee again. Victor will obviously be hoping he's back within the next month or so, he makes a big difference to the Roos.

Not sure. Didnt know about the knee. He dislocated his shoulder against Willunga (which was operated on over Summer).

Rumour is his employer was putting pressure on about that - maybe he wont?

He is important - takes a big strong defender to match him up and he can kick 60m easily. His brother has been filing the void well but he can play pretty much any position to great effect.

Certainly is his shoulder GWW. McLaren played Victor last week and there were a few sore boys playing that day.
Ryan was constantly rubbing his hamstring.
Luke Ellis looked as though he was carrying his troublesome knee or maybe a groin
Saunders and Boyd both went off with ankle problems.
Dale is due back for the last game against Encounter Bay.

With Victor having a few under an injury cloud, Yank not showing their early season form at the moment, and Willunga struggling a little more than previous years, it looks as though Strath will go into the finals as definite favourites. It will definitely be an interesting finals series.

Yeah GWW it will be a great finals series i think. While Willunga have lost a couple more games than usual i dont think anyone would write them off.Strath i think are the team to beat, they looked really slick when i saw them.Yank if they can get their early season form back are a very dangerous side.Victor have alot of class and if fit i think will be Straths biggest challenger.Langhorn Creek have plenty of good players and Mcgregor up forward is great to watch, they probably need to be a bit more consistant with their performances in the next couple of weeks but on their day are a very good side.Looking forward to seeing the finals this year

Strath comprehensively beat willunga, with the scoreboard flattering willunga a little. Willunga had the usual height advantage over strath but tended to play from behind too much, when the ball hit the deck strath were too quick and clean. Didn't see too many out for willunga only noticed genevose and williamson out. Haskett look troubled with his hand injury, played in back pocket out of the action and went off a couple of times clearly in pain. Portlock was well held until last qtr when game was over and hams was well beaten by hickey.

Heard there was a close finish between creek and yank with a goal being kicked after the siren to win the game for yank after a free kick was given. Who kicked the winning goal and was the free kick obvious?

Certainly seems that way at this point. Top 5 should end up:

Strath 16 wins
Victor 15 wins
Willunga 14 wins
Yank 14 wins
Creek 10 wins

Creek have got Victor and Willunga to finish off so they can shape 2nd, 3rd and 4th still.

I still think any of the top 5 could win it with all players on deck and with good form.

Still hard to gauge Creeks form I reckon - Beaten easily by Compass then pushed Yank all the way. The Creek Victor game will be very interesting - as will Victor's lineup.

I think you might have got your wires crossed a little bit there.. Loccy McGregor kicked a miraculous goal from 50m out, hard against the boundary line with about 4 mins to go to draw scores level. Scores remained tied for 2 or 3 mins before a Yank player (MacFarlane I think) took a mark close to the goals and kicked truly. The ball went back to the middle and the last minute or so of the match saw players from both sides throwing their body over the footy before the siren sounded with Langhorne Creek in posession of the footy on their half back line. Easily the best game of local footy I've seen for a number of years.

I was at the game and could clearly see that it was a Creeks player that headbutted D. Hamlyn in the chest and Hamlyn just pushed him away. The 2 game suspension is a bit harsh probably just gave him 2 cause he was there earlier in the year.

from what i've seen and heard this season creek are getting a bit of a reputation of not being the most self-controlled club!throwing around cheap shots behind play is weak and should really be controlled!

It will be a good day at Yank this weekend when they play arch rivals the Mudlarks. I believe Yank are holding a reunion for the 1985 A grade premiership side, with a Legends game taking place at 12 noon featuring the old boys from both clubs. Will be taking bets on how many hammys will go in 30mins!

I will take part in your illegal on-line gambling set-up...
Mind you if you are gonna offer a book you could put up some odds.
What odds on 4 hammys?

Why didn't they have the reunion last week when they played the Creeks as it was them who they upset in the 1985 GF. :(

i know in past years Yank have held their past players club luncheon at their home game against Myponga and plus they'll get more people to the game being local rival.
