Who cares about rain on Bridgey oval - I don't have to play in the sludge - more importantly the weather needs to stay away for a cracker night at the Thunderball Saturday night. Yeeehaaa! Catch up with you all there Thunderers!

We wanted the rain to hold out just one more week as we have Shanty & the pit this week... already got Mt Ronnie out of the way so that would be good to have them both behind us before the real winter begins

And they have been to Goat park too, which could resemble a paddock come Saturday night following a week of rain!

Try running a club with no income from home games for that long.

Another gem from the HFL!

Looks like Owie might have had a "senior moment" during the programming, makes it very hard without cashflow.

hi guys
just flew in this morning and yes business is booming very close to finalising the deal.
but sorry to dissapoint you overthehill football is still number one. i will be looking to take a step back in my business if this deal goes ahead and look to recruit a fresh face as managing director. this will give me more time to concentrate on what is important... the mighty RAIDERS.

as for the blackwood match gutted by the result but have to take what positives we can from the match and look forward to ironbank this week. after their recent turn around in form we will be going into the game as the hunters.
lets all just hope the FORTRESS can claim another victim.

I seem to keep getting under your skin, Vaughan. Notice how I used 'your' here.
Just wondering too - what does it take for something to become a 'fortress'? There's still a bunch of teams that have made 'The Fortress' quite a happy hunting ground so I'm not sure if it warrants that name. granted, being the size of the Steamroller Park in Stirling does make it advantageous to be your home ground, but hardly a fortress...

I think it's called the fortress if they one game there per season. Since they have already reached that mark, then V can feel free to call it the fortress!!

not gonna argue about grammar with you its pointless and boring.
yeah the fortress is my nickname for the ground just to get into the oppositions head and judging by your whinging it appears to be working.
would rather that than have my home deck named after a sandwich.

Not whinging, just pointing out that it's not a fortress.
And in all honesty, if a company like Subway offered a few grand a year to rename your ground, you wouldn't take it? I thought you were a businessman...

Just in regards to Saturday nights Hahndorf v Ironbank game a well done to Tom Watts. A 15 year old playing in his first A Grade game to kick 4 goals was a good effort. Also named best player. With 11 players 19 and under it was certainly a different feel for the Hahndorf A Grade than the past couple of years. Ironbank easily have the best side now that they have had for a while I would have thought, and will get a decent scalp by years end.

hi ace
unfortunately cant reveal the details of the venture on a public forum as it may jeopardise the deal. those close to me know how much time i have been putting into this deal so if i can get the backing i am after it will be huge for my company.

and jq if it was up to me i would never sell out the history and name of our proud home to a multi national corporation. but i guess there is a price on everything these days.

You should be working for Toyota, they've got a van that needs a name, maybe Hiace will suffice.
Jolly good luck with it, I hope it comes through.
Make sure the new V maintains the same 'lust' for the Raiders, we'll be disappointed if that disappears into the ethos.

Can anyone tell me how are Birdwood are travelling? Thought recruits would be pushing them up the ladder a bit more?
Is Dave Bradbrook out there still? and Scott Friendly?

I saw them on the weekend and they were pretty average. A few Ok players floating around (don't know their names). They're definitely not copping the div.1 floggings of their first year so they have moved forward a bit.

Birdwood, working on the points system to be used to guague relegation are bottom with 19 at this stage followed by Lobey on 20 and Ironbank 22. Bridgey are 23 I believe. Based on what I have seen Ironbank will clear away from the bottom 3 over the next 5 weeks points wise based on 5 pts for an A win, 3 for a B. I would be worried if I was Birdwood. Lobey won't win another A grade game but their SC may get them some pts. I would say they or birwood would go. Makes sense a team from that way replacing a team from that way. The next 2 weeks will give a real indication as Ibank plays at the cess pool and then against lobey at home. Win those 2 and they will be pretty safe point wise. I think they play Birwood again early in round 2 so that may help decide. Bring on Torrens valley.

Has Been, you sound like you know how the points system works re relegation and I know there's been plenty of discussion about this, but I'm stuffed if I can work it out, I just hope the clubs looking at dropping back have it nailed down and planning to work the system to stay in Central, unless there is a club is looking to drop back?

I see the C grade no longer has the 'bye' with the addition of Onkaparinga Valley. This makes the C grade an 8 team comp... its good to see at least everyone can get a kick if they are unable to crack the B grade or work committments prevent them playing on saturdays. It also allows the C grade players 2 extra games with Onkas coming on board. I personally like the idea of friday night games with a 7 pm start. It allows those that work time to get to the game and also free's up the weekend so you can spend time with the family or whatever else you wish to do.
