You would hope that was the case MrJ but I have been told that players from one of your neighbouring clubs did not participate last year and are being uncooperative again this year.

Player response to the current system is irrelevant Pommy Git. Most agree that under 25 plus a few is Mickey Mouse. I suggest a few big name GSFL players would be more willing to push through injuries for a 'real' association game with more interest / atmosphere.
How about a night game vs SFL, Friday night of the long weekend at Happy Valley or McLaren Vale. Now that would draw a crowd and have a crackin atmosphere.

I know many would say it's about bragging rights but why not put some prize money up for grabs! Get some sponsors on board hold it at a decent size venue (with atmosphere), say $5k prize money and that way each player would get say $200 for playing if they win, i'm sure you will get the best of the best!

If i knew thats all it took to get you to play.... You'd still be over paid! ;)

The new lights at Hawk Park are absolute rippers. If they did look at playing a night game I assume they would have to do it on the Saturday night rather than the Friday given that they would need to play 3 games one after another. The u14's would need to get started by about 2:30 - 3pm.

bays have just purchased enough lighting to be good enough for AFL standard night games. The lights all came from Norwood oval in the upgrade of the oval. They should be going up within coming weeks, watch for NAB cup games next year if there is a NAB cup.

Night games should become apart of the fixture thru out the year ! pt Lincoln have them n they get massive crowds n have a great atmosphere, you get other teams going along for a look so u get double the gate takings,I think the gsfl should look into more of them.Maybe even a association game against sfl under lights, Imagine the atmostphere

Support a fellow Gsfl footballer Shaun "Tilt" Hutchinson & log on to Triple M's Tradie for a Lady & help him win the King of the tradies. During his interview he was asked "what do you look for in a women" in which Tilt replied " a heartbeat". No doubt Tilt will thrive in this atmosphere which includes 100 single women & free piss. Tilts choice of wingman in Shane "Showbag" Holme will ensure the place is drank dry! Get on to Triple M & cast your vote today for tonights event!

GSFL under 15's have been training really well. To date we have had 2 trial matches against Sturt metro under 15's which we lost by 4 goals and one against South metro under 15's which we won by 4 goals. The last training was held last night at Strath (which will be Mypongaesk this weekend) in readiness for Saturdays' match against the River Murray. The match starts at 11:00am, it would be good to see some support for the next generation of GSFL footballers. The team is as follows.

Travis Ekers-Broadbent (VH), Reece Kleinig (GPE), Tim Larcombe (Str), Sam Lavers (Yank), Reid Colwell (Will), Dylan Camac (MtC), Tyson Watson (Will), Braden Altus (McL), Ben Heaslip (EB), Charlie Houghton (GPE), Kurt Linder (VH), Bradley Clarke (Myp), Brad Fitzgerald (Yank), Toby Reed (LC), Luke Bartlett (Yank), Darcy Hourigan (Str), Ryan Fletcher (VH), Brock Murray (Will), Hudson Trigg (VH), Brock Fishpool (MtC), Fred Nissen (GPE), Nick Lawrie (LC)

Kurt Linder is the captain, Bradley Clarke vice captain and Dacry Hourigan is deputy vice.
You can love football, but it wont always love you back!

Night games are fantastic! We have a few during the Hills season, very profitable for the home club and a greater atmosphere. Good lights is a must though!!!

would've been better off sending in the video of the Creeks Full back kicking the ball to the man on the mark from a kick in and the umpire actually paying it a MARK despite the ball only travelling 5 metres   Then he went back and kicked the goal. That sort of stuff up is more likely to win than a specky mark as was shown with the winner being the Goal umpire being more concerned with lighting up a fag b4 waving the flags.

Lets hope we can get the win this weekend in the GSFL and then change the whole concept to open age and play against the SFL.

Will be a great second half of the season. Still plenty of life left in the year and its a raffle as to who will take out the flag with any of the final 5 that make it capable of winning. At this stage you would have to say Yank and Strath are the 2 form teams of the comp with Willunga, Creeks and Victor all more than able to take it out. Mt Compass need to win the close games against the other 5 sides fighting for a finals spot but are still a huge threat on the finals series!

Mail Medal tip at the halfway point: John Pratt/Karl Lohde (Yank)

Totally agree. What actually is the point of playing underage teams? The public want to see the best country football has to offer, and some of the best are being denied a privelage of representing their league.

I think most agree, GSFL v SFL would be a cracker and would get a huge turnout if promoted properly.

Hell yeah!!! Getting excited just thinking about it! :-bd

BULLSHIT! Norwoods lights were never up to AFL standard only SANFL Standard (300 Lux), that is why Norwood have upgraded to 500 Lux plus (AFL Standard). So Encounter Bay would need to purchase additional lights approx 8 lights per tower to get it to AFL standard! Also I would think Encounter Bay is a bigger ground than the Parade at Norwood so additional lights would also be needed for ground area compensation!
In saying that, you will find they will still be the best lights in the GSFL better than Langhorne Creeks whick I believe are 200 Lux.

The lux (symbol: lx) is the SI unit of illuminance and luminous emittance. It is used in photometry as a measure of the intensity, as perceived by the human eye, of light that hits or passes through a surface. It is analogous to the radiometric unit watts per square metre, but with the power at each wavelength weighted according to the luminosity function, a standardized model of human visual brightness perception.

Lighting LUX of some grounds in Australia.

MCG 2500 Lux
Adelaide Oval 1600 Lux
Subiaco 1500 Lux
AAMI 1400 Lux was 1000 (Upgraded this year)
Norwood 550 Lux was 340 (Upgraded last month)
Richmond (West Adelaide) 300 Lux (Upgraded this year
Langhorne Creek 200 Lux
Goodwood Oval 150 Lux

AFL Lighting minimum 500 Lux, SANFL 300 Lux, Amateur Competition 200 Lux.
