Langhorne Creek had the better of the Demons in the first half and went into the break with a handy 5 goal lead. Willunga kicked 9 goals in the 3rd quarter and looked like they were going to run away with it but the Hawks steadied and kicked 3 goals in the last quarter to seal an important win.

I thought it was a great game to watch. Weather was perfect with a good crowd and some great skills from both sides on display. Some missed chances by both teams but for me it was Lachy McGregor the difference up forward for the creek he was brilliant and in very good touch.

I think everyone will get a good look when it appears on Almost Football Legends!! He should get extra points for jumping 4 times his own height.

No I missed it unfortunately - was enjoying a nice 30 minute shower at that stage  great changerooms, heard all about it though was pretty big they reckon. He just had the ball on a string with some quality players on him did very well. Also I seen Benny Baxter take a massive hit, hard as nails ol back hoe kept going as he does of course was a good day of footy.

Big Dunstall in the 2's was a unit

I hear there was a good turnout to association training last night with there being around 25 guys there and some of the bigger names in the comp attending! Some good height and skill, hopefully the boys put up a good show this Saturday!

Lets hope we can get the win this weekend in the GSFL and then change the whole concept to open age and play against the SFL.

Will be a great second half of the season. Still plenty of life left in the year and its a raffle as to who will take out the flag with any of the final 5 that make it capable of winning. At this stage you would have to say Yank and Strath are the 2 form teams of the comp with Willunga, Creeks and Victor all more than able to take it out. Mt Compass need to win the close games against the other 5 sides fighting for a finals spot but are still a huge threat on the finals series!

Mail Medal tip at the halfway point: John Pratt/Karl Lohde (Yank)

Totally agree. What actually is the point of playing underage teams? The public want to see the best country football has to offer, and some of the best are being denied a privelage of representing their league.

I think most agree, GSFL v SFL would be a cracker and would get a huge turnout if promoted properly.

Absolutely - time to get the best of both leagues together irrelevant of age and let the leagues compete for bragging rights.
I am sure once the GSFL & SFL get this happening and make a great spectacle of the game other leagues will want to join in and then we can get back to all the leagues having a crack at each other over the long weekend & thsu creating massive crowds and interest. Would be great for regional footy that is for sure to get back to that format.

I think all 5 clubs are a realistic chance of winning the flag. All 5 would probably be top at the moment in 90% of the country leagues around the state. I can't recall a time in the GSFL when the top 5 clubs were so strong, and there was so little between each of them.

That would be fantastic, but, wasn't the concept changed because of the reluctance of the more senior players to participate? Many of them said that they had been there and done that and now needed to take advantage of the week off to get on top of niggling injuries to their aging bodies.

That was a long time a go now. I believe that ALL players would definately put their hand up if this concept come back. All comps have only played one comp each since then. Again I say bring back the carnival concept and force people to be a part of it, althoug in saying that I would not think you would have to. Playing against the best is something all GOOD players should strive to have a crack at.

I know many would say it's about bragging rights but why not put some prize money up for grabs! Get some sponsors on board hold it at a decent size venue (with atmosphere), say $5k prize money and that way each player would get say $200 for playing if they win, i'm sure you will get the best of the best!

You would hope that was the case MrJ but I have been told that players from one of your neighbouring clubs did not participate last year and are being uncooperative again this year.

Well that is their porogitive and I believe that if you do not make yourself available then a suspension or fine should be in place. Just my opinion. Player and the Club. That may change their mind.
