It Is McLaren FC. Yep the McLaren South Road is about as flat as Bass Straight with a force 10 gale. Speed limit 80 kph and 5 miles before McLaren South you have to slow down to 50kmh. The seniors are going to ride their bikes on the bike track so we don't have to leave at dawn to get there in time. Will be a good warm up for them.

bit sensitive, are you ex-Flat?

Must have heard that the yetti was picked at Full Back for a once off game to bring back the old coathanger and put him and Portlock in the trainers room for the afternoon. The yetti after being sent off 6 minutes in, was then going to join the Past players day.

Haha. If you pull on the boots Yetti, Willunga might look at drafting David Hill from Pongy... You probably only remember the headache after Yetti  Still remember seeing about a meter of you hanging off each end of the stretcher

You have to be nice to Hamsey. It's his birthday tomorrow and if he doesn't play it will be because he's too old!!!!! Also Willunga FC turns 136 years old tomorrow. First meeting held on May 29th 1974!

Might be a bit of an omen here. Strath beat Willunga last week to spoil Bazza's 50th. McLaren to beat Willunga to spoil hamsy's (32nd I reckon) this week.

U r such an optimist Yetti! Misguided I think however. And it's 31!The best players for McLarens will be in the BBQ shed trying to stay out of the rain and trying to remember how good they were! There'll be a few old Demons doing the same I reckon. The footy may be a slight diversion.

Speaking to a delegate on the weekend & we could be getting back to having a real rep game against the Southern League! Im sure the players will put there hands up for that. They better make it open & not this under 25's crap. This is a real chance of happening, lets hope the delegates of both leagues make it happen. Imagine the Gsfl side....

Dundovic Hams Eagleton
Pratt D.Ellis M.Elliot
Maxfield Hodge Redden
S.Hutchinson Sherwood Haskett
A.McDonald Cheetham Glass

1st - Steele Ewer Portlock

Int - Baulderstone M.Thomas A.Harvey Obushak
S.Elliot S.Alexopulos Iljcesen Howell & about 20 more...

No Ben Moore? Is he injured, overlooked, out of form or would the GSFL side be so good that he would not get a game?

Moore, Feast, L.Ellis, Boyd, L.Ryan, Gaskin & probably another 4-5 Strath & Yank players... The GSFL is a quality comp at the moment. Bring on the GSFL vs SFL

Maybe not! I've never played in the GSFL but have a lot of mates who have. The argument has always been that the GSFL is a bit more free flowing and skilful football whereas the SFL is more of a congested style of footy with more emphasis on body contact.

I reckon the SFL would get touched up by the GSFL if we played without age restriction and in perfect conditions on a decent oval. A lot of guys have bailed on the SFL over the years because the competition is simply too weak. Too many rubbish teams and too many wasted weeks during a season!

A lot of guys have bailed the sfl because of the ridiculous amount of money on offer.

Enc Bay vs Victor - 15 goals
Goolwa/PE vs Strath - 20 goals
Creek vs Willunga - 8 goals
Mclaren vs Mypo/Sellicks - 3 goals
Yank vs Mt Compass - 10 points

as long as the weathers good, if it rains reduce the big scorelines by 50%

Tips for round 9 already! Not much news from the weekends games?
Victor Harbour 8.23-71 i know the weather wasn't the best, but that's a pretty poor performance in front of goal at home. what happened there? could have blown the Hawks away!

I thought that scoreline was interesting also. What happened there limb? Were Victor that much more dominant in the tough conditions that were presented Saturday?

Willunga v Mclaren was played in pretty wet conditions in the 1st half, we needed to address a couple of things and were able to do this and got the result we were after. 3 to 1 inside 50s for the day and 4-5 players hopefully returning this week we can give a good account of ourselves up at the Creek.

An interesting contest between Compass and Yank this week with Compass really needing the win to stay in touch with the top 5.

I wonder how many players will make themselves available for the association game after this weekend. Hopefully the GSFL is able to roll out a good side and continue our leagues winning run against the RMFL.

Willunga certainly played a bit better than McLaren, BJ. Players found space and used the ball well. Past players day as usual was very good and it was good to catch up with some of the old teammates.
McLaren V Willunga in the 1/2 time break with Auskick kids having a game for the first time. Very funny to watch.

If all the sfl players are leaving for the gsfl for money how come mclaren vale cant get any emus. You would have thought that Hill with his connections at wheatshiff rd. would have been able to get a few. everyone else seems to have grabbed a couple. Does Hill lack recriting ability. we all no he had so many gun locals at the emus to work with. But in country fooyt u need to be able to recruit. we always here how lucky mclaren are to own there club. maybe they should sell it and buy some players.they have been living of there last flag and reserves success for to long.

Why do you have to recruit? Don't you have juniors?
Steve Hill said he would not take any Emus with him and has been true to his word.
Steve Hill probably does lack recruiting ability hasn't had to do it before.
I'm sure Hilly and Mclaren would want to give there juniors the oppertunity to develop in to senior
footballers. Isn't that what grassroots football is all about. It takes time and patience.
I would back Hill and Willson to do that.
Myponga/sellicks has recruited a shit load of players this year and are no better of than Mclaren,
Who have people playing for the jumper, not ridiculous amounts of money

You dont have to recruit if you dont want to win. look at the lengths yank have gone to recruit and at this stage seems to be paying of. So are you saying hill hasnt tried recruiting any emus. my mail is that he has. He just hasnt succeeded. weather thats because of the lack of money on offer at mclarens or Hills lack of recruiting ability im not sure. talking development is good as long as he has a three year contract. otherwise he might not get time to develop them, as at the end of the day results matter. willunga does have great locals but they were all developed at south etc. not in an hour on thursday night which country coaches get.
