Vaughan wrote:tips for the weekend
onkaparinga valley vs mount lofty - the dogs to just get home at the kennel.
birdwood vs hahndorf - magpies by 5 goals.
blackwood vs ironbank - blackwood to smash ironbank deep into the relegation zone.
bridgewater vs mount barker - a big challenge but the raiders to turn it around and win by 2 goals at THE FORTRESS.
lobethal vs uraidla districts - cabbage by a lot

im away on business at the moment but i will be flying in early saturday just for this match.
hoping for a better result because i have only just got the plaster board repaired after last weeks debarkle.

RAIDERS till I DIE!!!
V.

Sorry Vaughan, as a Lofty lad I see your win over us as more of a 'debacle' and what Uris did to you as more of a fair gauge. But admire your spirit!
My tips for what it's worth:

Lofty - JUST. I really think the Devs need the space to play the better game and get that at Balhannah. No idea of any ins and outs though. Would not surprise me at all though if Onkas get up. if the Devs lose this I think they might struggle for a strong top 5 cred.
Magpies - again, no idea of ins and outs. magpiemaster? If hahndorf have more of their names back, they'll SMASH Birdwood, 10 goals.
Blackwood - 8 goals, Thunderers sound like they're improving a bit. Shut down Gigney and win ; )
Mt Barker - I think your mob will bounce back somewhat, Vaughan, but not enough. Roos by 6.
Uraidla - how long's a piece of string? I say 17 goals.

Onkas vs Mt Lofty - Could be a close game as i here onkas are suffering a fair few injuries. Dogs be 3 Goals at the Kennel
Birdwood v Hahndorf - The Pies by 20 goals
Blackwood v Ironbank - The woods by a 100 Goals, Gigney to kick 64 and Padroth to eat a small child
Bridgewater v Mt Barker - Mt Barker by 1000 Goals with Bridgewater to offer Fisher a $10,000 sign on, post match
Lobethal v Uraidla - Uraidla by 100 Goals and Loby may not even show up

a very boaring week of football IMO, only good game will be Onkas V Lofty but who gives a stuff about either of those two teams. Im tipping Onkas President (Tanner) to follow in the footsteps and Uraidla President (Parker) if they lose.

Best of luck with that. Perhaps if you keep his dad out of the club he might go ok in the magoos.

Blackwood 17.9 def Ironbank 17.6
Ironbank getting the first 3 goals of the game before Blackwood came back again. Blackwood only led by 6 points at half time and managed to keep in front until the last 5 mins when Ironbank got the last few goals of the game and nearly snatch it.
Bad news in the Blackwood camp. Gigney went down early with a suspected Broken Ankle (potentially career ending) and Nathan Mitchell was also stretched off with a knee injury.
Roche won't be back for 5 to 6 weeks with his knee injury so the forward line will be tested in the next few weeks.
Top effort from the Ironbank boys, incredible drive in their engine room and really showed they have a team that will be a force in a couple years if they keep it together.
In other results, Ironbank B-grade won, Blackwood Senior Colts Won by 20 goals, Blackwood Junior Colts had a good win, and Blackwood 13's got up for a good win too.

Barker up by about 8-9 goal. Bridgey had their moments, but Barker too many options in the end. Bridgey lacked a strong forward target IMO.
I reckon both teams would be united in suggesting the umpiring was well below standard -would've been over a dozen 50m penelties given :?

Well said. Gigney did not look good. To be honest I'd be surprised to see him playing at all ever again. Think Mitchell must have been trying to take his usual big grab over my shoulder, obviously didn't go to plan. Roach several weeks away too - interested to see how the woods travel with these blokes out.

IB probably had the toughest draw to start the season so plan to rack up a few wins now before the first round is over. Heading in the right direction, just need to get across the line.

Overthehill - entertaining post, but I'd suggest there'd at least be a few people interested in the Onkas/Lofty result, especially seeing as that really tightens up that race for 5th spot. Sounds like Lofty smashed the Dogs early and it pretty much just stayed status quo for the remainoing 3 quarters. i reckon a few teams might be looking over their shoulder at Ironbank and Blackwood will struggle to beat top 5 teams without Gigney. When I suggested to ironbank that they stop Gigney and they win, I didn't mean go that far!

uraidla are better than barker, disregard the result when they played at start of season. way too much class and very well drilled side. thats just my opinion from what i've seen this year
