I'm not defending umpire abuse. I'm saying the suspension is disproportionate to what occurred.
And yes, we should have more players doing the job. I expect to do B/C grade next season at my club.

Umpiring is good fun. I've done plenty of the 13's 15's and B Grade. The only team I don't like umpiring is the Loxton North B Grade because half of them are a bunch of ****. Their supporters are the biggest bunch of pole smokers to ever walk the earth too. Apart from that, it's quite enjoyable.
So you've seen everything have you?

Never had a problem with North supporters when I played at Renmark.

I see young Browny was back for North on Saturday.
Handy pick-up, even for one week.

I heard that Bangers Smith will be on the sidelines for a few weeks after being reported against Berri, and left the guy with a busted jaw. Anyone witness the incident?

Hope it's not the case for the Berri guy and for Bangers - he'd have racked up a few games on the sidelines by now.

I goal umpired the match. Scuffle on in the middle of the ground. Smith went to smack a Berri player. While on the ground, Brett Duffin held his arm to stop him, trying to break up the scuffle. Bangers turned and smacked him in the face, ran off smiling.

Broken cheekbone for Duffin. One of the good football people out there. Thug incident.

Not good. Don't need that. Played with Bangers - got sent off in a trial against Tanunda for defending him when he was a 15 year old. Sad that his footy is going to be remembered for that stuff.

Hopefully Duff picks up. He is a good bloke.

On a brighter note, both Goof Smith and Daniel Dawson were excellent as umpires in that game. Made the right calls, didn't take crap and let the game go. How footy should be umpired. Goal umpires were also outstanding.

Berri hard-nut Nathan Geyer has been advised to cease playing football by doctors after another nasty head knock on the weekend. Terrible news of the lad and the Dees.

Rumour has it that Brad Williams had 67 possessions in Brown's Well's Independent win on the weekend.
