It's interesting to note that there are 4 clubs undefeated in the McCracken Cup so far and those 4 clubs are playing against each other this weekend with the 2 winners to face off in the 2nd half of the year for the McCracken Cup. The winner of the Langhorne Creek vs Yankalilla game will be in the final against the winner of the Willunga vs Strathalbyn game.

An entertaining game at McLaren's on Saturday. Langhorne Creek off to a good start and McLaren came back at them and were 5 goals each at quarter time. McGregor was looking dangerous up forward (but did a hammy)and coach Sherwood was playing very well and in everything. Wingman Tonkin impressed on the wing.
Some awful turnovers by Mclaren gave the Creeks some easy goals, but they pegged the margin back again.
Youngsters, Williams, Zohar and Natale were playing well but the langhornes defence was solid.
At three quarter time McLaren were 3 goals down, and then kicked the next 2 to be just over a goal down. Langhorne Creek lifted and McLaren could not go with them and Langhorne's kicked the next 6 or 7.

A good number of the Creeks committee at the President's half time afternoon tea where they enjoyed a couple of decent McLaren Reds and some nibbles. Most of the Creek guys were in having a drink and chat after the game. GSFL President Gordon Tonkin honoured us with a visit and took the opportunity to take the microphone during presentations.

Looking forward to this weeks game at Encounter Bay which is always a bruising affair between the 2 eagles teams of the League.

Not sure if it's been posted, but ex Encounter Bay & Goolwa/Saints player Damien Gigney broke his leg on Saturday playing for Blackwood against Ironbank. Apparently it was pretty nasty.

One of the smartest footballers I've played with and against, both up forward and or down back. A ripping bloke both on & off the field, such an unfortunate way for the big fella to finish up, if indeed it's over.

Just a quick note to all junior coordinators that read this forum or for those interested. There seems to be some confusion about how the under 15 GSFL squad is operating (its been going for 5 or 6 weeks now). If you are involved with one of the confused clubs (or maybe your a confused parent, junior coach etc) give myself or Alex Burrows at the SAFC a call and ask questions. Its actually very simple and was clearly explained at Mount Compass earlier in the year at the junior delegates meeting where the program and information was handed out. Clubs were also asked to email through potential candidates for the squad so for those who chose not to and are now complaining refer back to that meeting also. The squad is now beginning to be fine tuned so if there is a talented under 15 that has been overlooked, this week is the time to let someone know.

A McCracken round of Footy this wkend, Round 7:
Encounter Bay vs McLaren - Battle of the Eagles. EB always hard to beat at the Bay, but did lose to Myponga there last wkend. McLaren played 3 good quarters against Creeks last week, are very fit and young, with plenty of space to run, can win their first game of the season, if they can put 4 quarters together.
Goolwa vs Victor Harbour - Victor will win comfortably.
Langhorne Creek vs Yankalilla - If Langhorne fire up this will be a close game, but Yank to win for me.
Mt Compass vs Myponga/Sellicks - Mt Compass for the win, interesting to see how close pongy get with a bit of confidence from last weeks win.
Strathalbyn vs Willunga - Last years Grand Finalists go at it again. The time has come for a changing of the guard. Strath in a fierce battle.
Goodluck to eveyone playing this weekend.

Enc Bay vs Mclaren - Judging by the last few weeks scores vale are getting better, should come good with a win, 6-7 goals
Goolwa vs Victor - Too big, strong and fast, 25 goals
Yank vs Creek - Havnt seen them play yet but i've heard its the 'year of the tiger', 8-9 goals
Compass vs Myponga sellicks - Coming off a win with a few players back, good for us playing on a smaller oval, 4-5 goals
Willunga vs Strath - Will be a close one till the third qtr like willunga's past couple, then they lift a gear and will win by, 6-7 goals

Tips for round 7

McLaren to notch up their first win over the other Eagles
Victor will be big winners against Goolwa
The home ground advantage to give the Hawks the edge over Yank
Compass should be too good for the Mudlarks
Willunga to find another gear when it gets tight and get over the line in the GF replay

Good to see Cameron Sandercock playing A grade for Langhorne Creek.

Creeks, if you can ever get this guy to concentrate on playing football you are going to have yourselves one hell of a player.

Mclaren got their first win up today down at encounter bay by about 6 goals in the end 14 8 to 8 9 scores were level at 3/4 time 8 8 a piece but the first 5 minutes of the last quarter saw mclaren kick 4 goals and put the game away. looked like they were fitter in the end and ran the game out better. the bays had a 2 to 3 goal wind behind them in the last quarter but were unable to stop mclarens run. It was a tame affair considering some the dramas that have gone on in the past, good for mclaren to get their first win up but somehow i think the bays might consider it one that got away
who ever thought of the saying winning isn't everything, probably lost!!
